TOPIC: Saddlebags US version

Saddlebags US version 11 months 4 weeks ago #1

:hmmm: Question for those who have installed the US Yamaha saddlebags. Do they rub on the rear fender once installed? Just purchased a pair and haven't put them on yet. Thanks for the info.

yes, you need to put some type of protective coating/film on the fender to keep from destroying the paint. I have over 22,000 miles with my bags on on the paint looks fine when I take them off.

MaxMan,
I wanted to order replacement film tape for the fenders under the saddlebags, but the part numbers (2S3-F844F-V0 & 2S3-F844F-T0 ) don't come up in any of the OEM parts finders. Called the Yamaha USA (California) Tech Service phone # (800-962-7926 ... then #3 option) and talked to them about this. They got back with me saying that they were in the process of switching suppliers for this film and sent me a set... no charge !

.....and....make sure you store the film(s) in a proper non-dust bag/container/whatever, because they ARE reusable. If you dont--like I did--they gather dust/dirt(very sticky) permanently and look like sh!t--like mine. I imagine there may be a way to clean them and reapply the 'sticky', yet i'm unaware of that trick.
