TOPIC: Gurued ECU change from one bike to another

Gurued ECU change from one bike to another 10 months 3 weeks ago #1

helo!

i have vmax, with installed guruedgear's flashed ecu.

now i am buying a new vmax and i'd like to know if there are any chances to switch ECUs between them.

i think i have to change locks and so, but i'd also like to know if i have to change anything else.

where are ODO values written in? it would be strange if i sell old bike with 0km on ODO.

well, new re-flash is still alternative, but...

looking forward for your answers...

Yes you will have to change the locks and immobilizer with your ecu and don't have to change the meter comp.

I bought a new remapped race ecu for my bike and it works with no problems,i think once it has been flashed it loses any security coding,my ignition key is not coded to it otherwise it would not work,i can't see why your ecu wouldn't work on another bike that has the same mods,Your best bet would be to ask vmaxguru

If the bike is equip with a immobilizer (euro) to put the old bike back to stock, You will need the new ECU and ignition, immobilizer, gas cap, tool side cover lock from the new bike, to make the old bike work. And lots of time to switch the ignition.

As long as you have the original keys that came with each bike, I hope all you will have to do is switch ECU's between the bikes. I think the Immobilizer is the only thing that pairs with the keys during the registration process. When the Immobilizer sees the correct key that was registered to it during the registration process, it sends a serial word to the ECU to enable start-up. Also, make sure the Immobilizer is hooked up (check the 6 pin connector under the right scoop). I have not seen a serial number to mate the ECU to the immobilizer, but I have not really looked. As for the reflashed ECU, it should start in any immobilizer equipped bike. Make sure to un-hook the 6 pin connector for the Immobilizer under the right scoop.

I am also pretty sure Odo is stored in the Meter 2 display. There is a small serial memory chip that saves the data. It may also have a back-up in the Tach, but I have not tried to reverse anything there.
