TOPIC: GPS mount by the Gadget Guy

GPS mount by the Gadget Guy 10 months 2 weeks ago #1

I recently purchased a Garmin Zumo 660 GPS. The Ram mount supplied worked well, but was limited on where the unit physically resides. After a few minutes online I found a fantastic solution that offered the flexibility, rigidity and integrity worthy of the Vmax.

Check this out:

Easy to install with the provided stainless steel hardware, I was amazed on how stable the set up was and how flexible the position could be.

Genna was very easy to deal with as well

All said and done about $260.00 complete.
You can get another clamp assembly and mount additional items in the same way

Nicely machined billet parts, anodized or raw aluminum

Impressive

I know Shaun (okbrown) has one...you can mount a radar detector type device to it; I bought one for that eventual purpose (don't have the radar unit yet, but tired of wanting to buy something eventually and finding that when eventually comes, they no longer make it!). I started a thread a while back, I'll try to find it.....he linked some great pics of his setup. At least on some of the units you can also mount XM radio, cell phone, prob other things too; some might block at least part of the tach. At least in my experience, Genna is very helpful and picks up the phone himself.

Very Nice!

Also looks like it could double as a camera mount... :hmmm:

that's the way I mounted it to the odometer fitting screw. Now I can mount and dismount it completely (just one small plate left)within 1 minute without needing any tool. Basically I do not like the look of it at a vmax. that rather fits a bmw. but for trips in unknown areas it is quite helpful to locate the next gas station.... ;-))

Art gave me a common handlebar GPS mount. Thanks Art!

I took a grinder to it, and made it flat.

Then, after mounting Art's custom Gen 2 dashboard, he drilled two holes in it for the GPS mount.

Works like a champ!

Thanks to Art!
