TOPIC: Nash Flash Installed
Nash Flash Installed 10 months 3 weeks ago #1

I finally got around to spending the money to get my ECU re-flashed my Tim Nash, from Gurued Gear. For now, I just wanted to cover the process of getting the Nash Flash and installing it. I haven't had time to do more than a quick trip up and down the street, so more to follow. First of all, in my excitement to order the flash, I selected the wrong one from the Gurued Gear web site menu. Fortunately, I listed my mods (Mike's Xpipe, Oliver's Big Air, etc.) and Tim caught that I ordered the wrong part # and got my order changed to the right one, after checking with me to verify that I actually DID want the correct one. Just the fact that he checked with me instead of just making the change was outstanding customer service, since there could have been a scenario where I wanted that other flash (maybe buying for someone else, maybe gonna change my mods in the near future, etc.). So, Tim got me back on track early in the process. I removed the stock ECU, wrapped it up, boxed it up, took it to UPS, and sent it on it's way to Gurued Gear. I received emails from Gurued Gear when the order was placed, when Tim fixed my order, when the package arrived at Gurued Gear and put into the queue to be flashed, when it was flashed, and when it was shipped, along with the tracking #. So nice to be kept aware of what's happening with the order. The turn-around time was just a couple of days and the flashed ECU showed up on my door (along with the other things I ordered from Gurued Gear at the same time). I put the flashed ECU in my Vmax, followed the instructions for entering the diagnostics mode to review/clear any diagnostic codes. buttoned it all back up, and gave it a test start. The idle seems to be a bit smoother, especially when first starting the cold engine. The brief ride was nice and I am looking forward to seeing if the 3500-4000 rpm surge is gone and how the throttle responds. I have an Evoluzione throttle controller which helps with small throttle control at low rpms (and helped with adjusting the slack out of the throttle cable), so we'll see how the two work together. My initial impression is that these 2 mods really help low speed control. Great job of customer service from Tim and I'm looking forward to experiencing some of the performance benefits others have already described on this site. I'll post some ride feedback once I get a chance to get some time on it. Mike |

Glad you had such a good experience Mike.
Why am I not surprised Tim's friendly service and the attitude of: 1. "doing the right things" and 2. "doing things right" are the values hard to find these days. His passion is clearly shown through his work. We are lucky to have him in our little community |

Tims service is second to none! I too have the Xpipe and throttle tamer and the flash is the best money I have spent on the bike. Once you crack the hammer Im sure you'll agree that it was the best money spent next to your original purchase of the beast! Hold on tight its twice what it was outta the box

Evoluzione but I'm not sure if Ken is still making them. I purchased it right after I got my 09 Not sure if that spelling is correct though. Check VMax Guru

Yeah, that low end is hard to control, especially in traffic. First gear is pretty tall so the clutch gets a work out. Usually can't let the clutch engage 100% for a long distance because there's either no room or the guy in front is blocking me. And I wish I could cruise on the freeway at a lower RPM. The gears are just made for the 1/4 mile strip where all the HP and Torque top out when you reach the finish line.

Thanks for the accolades guys! I have always known you have one shot at perfection and then a couple more chances to make things right. It looks like the time I spent with the webstore software was worth it. I knew people would be removing their ECU's and effectively immobilizing their bikes, which means they will want to be kept up to date on it's progress. I still flash a good portion of the ECU's myself and I watch the orders when they come in. My cohort, Matt, has come up to speed and is starting to see when something is a mis-match as well. Since I really only deal with the V-Max right now, we don't have a huge volume to deal with. There has been a few times where we have been backlogged (Version 2 launch), but generally we move the ECU's thru at a pretty good clip.
I have been spending a little more time at home with my new son and that ability is somewhat a product of your patronage. For this, I am grateful and thankful. Check VMax Guru His website was http://www.evoluzione.net/, does not seem to be working right now. |

Yea, Ken's throttle tamer is great! Maybe someone could contact him about a group buy, like the quickshifter?

There are alternatives as well.
I've been running Rizoma grips for over 2 years I think now and they are also a great product. I've got them from PJ's Parts. Great folks to deal with. There are many design and mine are a different design to these, but these seem just as nice Here is a link: www.pjsparts.com/catalog/product_info.ph...264&products_id=1390 |
