TOPIC: What parts are needed to put 200 rim back in use?

What parts are needed to put 200 rim back in use? 9 months 2 weeks ago #1

OK, I realize this is a question asked out of pure laziness on my part. I have the wheel here and a parts manual.....but, I was thinking someone might have this off the top of their head or maybe written down somwhere.

I want to make the 200 rim I have complete again after switching the parts needed over to my 240 rim several years ago.

Anybody know what they are without going through the trouble of looking them up?

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,
Thanks to Joey, that YouTube video is a great guide...

I don't know if your intention was to move all the parts that you originally moved from your 200mm to the 240mm back onto the OEM 200mm rim or to purchase all the necessary parts for the 200mm, so as to make it readily available for use instead of the 240mm, depending on the particular usage of either rim...

A couple years ago, when Mark (Merced) wanted to outfit some spare 200mm rims, so that he could quickly change them out while he had new tires put onto the worn out ones, we came up with a parts list as shown below...

A couple of things that are not outlined in the above YouTube video, are the bearings, collars and seals...

The list below is assuming that you left the one bearing in place on the OEM 200mm rim when you built up the 240mm rim and you still have the longer collar...in addition, Ref. No. 3 (Adjusting Nut) and 4 (Oil Seal) may have been reused or retained, depending on what you did at the time...some folks moved them and others purchased new ones...

Anyway...just thought that you could use the list to help you...

Wow! $550 approx. to enable the second wheel on standby? That's almost as much as the 240 wheel itself. not sure its worth it unless you swap them out a lot.

While on the subject, does anyone have an easy way to torque the 4 pumpkin bolts to the swing arm with a 240?
I always struggle with space especially the two inside bolts being too close to the wheel and can't seem to get my wrench in there so easily
