Also I reckon I could now have my fuel tank out in under 30 minutes easily And let the "2012 GEN2 V-Max Games" begin!!!...I think with the right amount of Boddington Pale Ale in the cooler chest, I could shave off a few seconds on that time...lol... cvvmax, I got home yesterday and took LumMax out just to look at her and lust, like I do most days I'm not riding her, and I took a look at the lowering set up. This is what I come up with. Take the bolt that holds the bottom of the shock on, then take off the bolt that holds the lowering link on, and then take off the 2 bolts (Hex) that mount to the frame on top and the whole assembly should fall down for me. Then take the other bolt that is holding on the lowering link and I should be good. I checked yesterday and I could get to all the bolts, just have to see if it will work. Dannie Dannie, Just trying to picture this in my mind from memory (at 05:30 in the morning over my first cup of Java...lol) and your procedure should work in concept as long as you can access all the bolts from below the bike... One thing that you may have to work with are lifting jacks positioned at the right places to ensure that the shock assembly does not "pop" out and pushing everything up at the correct pressure when reversing the process...in addition to propping up the bike and swing arm at the right place, in order to do all of this... Maybe that is the way that the factory does it...will check the service manual later and see if there is anything that we are missing here... Maybe someone else can chime in???... Art Dannie first download the workshop manual from vmaxguru.com/Tech/Gen2/Files/09vmax.pdf and have a good read. It shows you every part of MAX and how to get to anything. (Someone might add a direct link to it if mine doesn`t work). IT IS A MUST HAVE. Have a good read and then another look. It can be done from the left side mainly but you will need a buddy and a jack. The left muffler must come off. and the side cover loosened.. It will be a lot of F@#king around first time. Having done it a few times myself, I would remove both mufflers and the cat or X-pipe aso. That way you can jack from the lower crossbeam of the frame and have room to move tools around. Some of these bolts have 2 differnt threads at either end and have to be screwed in correctly Lastly torque tensions on these bolts are all different and must be done exactly (you need a torque wrench or a digital adapter). DON`T GUESS If you have a bit of mechanical knowledge the manual will make it easy for you mate. I have found that working on MAX myself is very rewarding and I enjoy it. If you arn`t capable or hesitant then get someone to do it with you. A good friend and a carton of his favourite makes for a good afternoon VMAXD |
