The Star Accessory part number is 2S3-F2533-80-V0 and estimated to be available in Feb of 2009.

According to Oliver, a "guestimate" pricing of around $1k for the rim.

Well, Yamaha is taking the game up a notch. They have learned from all those custom bike lovers and maybe even from our forum and are about to sell a brand new accessorie, that we have not seen before from Yamaha and Star Motorcycles:

A 240 Wide Wheel Kit. An accessory rim that matches the stock look, uses identical mounts and bearings and should become available in February 2009. No retail pricing available but speculations where floating at around 1k.

Star Motorycles had the custom carbon Fiber version of the Vmax there with the 240 Wide Wheel Kit installed. Simply AWESOME!

Sounds like one complicated custom project less to worry about. Plus you can keep both sizes around.

With the amount of rubber that is going to be burned by the beast, it will make sense to be able to rotate wheels! Nice

Tire Mounting
I love the low profile and wide stance of this tire but it does not mount like the original. The shop I installed the tire at informed me that the tire will leave the lip of the rim sticking out. Sure as hell, it did.

Dunlop - Elite 3 Tour Rear Tire 240/40/R18
This tire is JUNK stay away will not seat right on the rim will not balance. Out $90.00 on mounting and dismounting!!!Not happy at all. Did some research and have found other people have had the same problem. Going back to a Metzeler 880.

Found the above reviews on the 240 Dunlop , anyone here had a problem with the tire not seating on the rim correct?
Thnx TB

I absolutely love the Dunlop 240. Yes it mounts differently because its made for a 8" rim while most other are for 8.5". The Dunlop has a higher crown and much longer sides compared to the Metzler for exmaple. Even on the cruiser I would ride the Metzler over the edge while the Dunlop has plenty of lean angle left.
In terms of riding the Dunlop is much more neutral compared to the Metzler. The Metzler looks good, but you feel the difference much more on corner entry.
As for mounting and balancing: It usually takes my local shop 1/2 to 3/4 oz to balance the Metzler, the Dunlop took less than 1/4 so we left the weights off all together.
Have put more than 2k miles on it so far and will not go back to the Metzler on bikes where handling is important. Wear looks comparable so far.
I expect the Dunlop 240 to out handle the Metzler on the new VMax as well.

Long Story short:
For Looks: Metzler
For Handling: DUnlop 240

Do you expect this size tire to slow the handling of the Vmax.
