TOPIC: CRG Bar-end Mirrors

CRG Bar-end Mirrors 5 years 3 months ago #1

This has been done before, but I figured I post up some pics with a slightly different approach, that does not require and machining but works and looks great. I also came up with a very simple way to avoid having to plug the holes for the stock mirrors, by simply turning the brackets up side down - see pics below.

As for the CRGs: I took of the bar end weights, they have a very short part that the CRGs fit on very nicely, however too short to mount them and reassemble. I played with the idea to turn down the bar ends but then I ended up trying something different and staying with it.

All it takes is one larger and one smaller washer and a longer bolt. Put the large washer against the CRG mount opposite the bar end weight. Put the smaller washer on top. The smaller washer acts like an extra spacer sot the throttle will still work without the larger washer interfering with the grip.
Get two longer than stock bolts at your local HW or bike shop to compensate for the extra thickness added by the CRGs and the washers.

That's it! Enjoy your ride!

Turn the bracket the holds the clutch master cylinder in place, upside down and there is no hole to fill. Same thing for the brake master cylinder bracket.

Be prepared for these mirrors to automatically fold back at speed of 150mph+

The air pressure gets too much for the springs to hold them in their extended position.

I did the same thing and turned the bracket upside down. The bar end mirrors i got are just like those but they are not CRG's.I only paid like $45 for them I did not even know if i was going to like bare end mirrors so i went with the least expensive pair i could find. Now i know i like them Ill take these and put on the other max and buy me a little bit better pair.I put the mirrors that where on the 2009 max and put those on the 2004 and that made a big improvement. You can see a lot more with them.I will leave those on there for now. Here are a few pics.

Thanks for the info! I have ordered those but had no idea how to put them on once the bike gets here! Here is my question... so in order you put the it on the bike as: grip, small washer, large washer, crg, then the stock bar ends?

You can use stacked washers with a longer bolt or CRG makes an adapter that expands at the end of the bar if it's a hollow bar.

fxstein, Your CRG setup looks great and I think it will fix my problem that the stock mirrors are not far enough to the outside for me to see directly behind me.

I notice CRG lists Split Bar End Mirrors for Lots of different brands of bikes at the same price. Are they all the same? Which ones did you use?
THANKS
