TOPIC: Louis led indicator mirror&EU-plate relocator mod.

Louis led indicator mirror&EU-plate relocator mod. 3 years 11 months ago #1

Louis led indicator mirror fits to new max quite okay.

Will take better pics on daylight.

Have not given up the idea of some bar end indicators and mirrors, but reckon more "traditional" setup suits for max better .. for the time being anyhow.

Not hard at all. These mirrors comes with an Yamaha adapters so it's plug & play basically. Only wiring takes a few moment of time. Just need to remove old blinkers, follow original wiring, open up headlight complex and run&connect new wires at the back.

Hi Tiari,
I find the mirrors very useful since they will have a much better rear view than original ones, but I also find them a bit big; I guess you will be better off when you install some kind of bar-end mirrors.
What I was really interested in was the whole set-up you have made for the rear numberplate; that is what I call a great job. From the pics you have kindly added to your message, I've been trying to understand exactly how you have made it. I'm no welder, and I don't want to copy it, just know if you would be interested in making me one exactly the same, including the LED light ASO; there might be other "europeans" interested in your design; looks like you are using stainless steel and that led me to think you work in some way for the Pulp & Paper industry...is that a correct asumption?
Pls. send me a PM so we can talk further.
Best regards,

Thanks for your comments & interest in my setup Spanish Flyer!

A bit wider setup yeah, does not bother me too much. Also, I reckon it looks better in live and you ge use to it.

Made of 8mm thick (unfilled) iron pipe which you can cut of & bend to right format in bench vice and trim in place relatively easy. Bushings for the bolts made of same pipe and mig welded on by using original rack as a pattern. Other clamps made of 5mm solid pipe & wide-brimmed washers and pre-welded together in place. After final mig-welding all joints bevelled with a motor rasp and finished with proper metal paint. The 2mm thick rubber given below is optional and can be shaped with a sharp hobby knive as you will.

Unfortunately not thinking to start mass production on this one. Takes more time than I've spare..apparently any of your local repairmans can do this with in an hour or two..does not have to be professional 1st class welder even. And any DIY-person get along with the finishing touches ;-)

Ps. wiring can be done more tidily if you care to dismount the rear fender all at once.

Good work Tiari !!

Glad you did that licence plate older in a hard material and well fixed!

Most people here don't imagine the size of our EU plates and the wind drag they can make on a bike ! And some of you have the bigger ones, specially SpanishFlyer...

Wooooooo I know them very well Bigbikelupo !!!

My eldest bro lives there for more then 25 years so...

He owns several bikes. The most fun is seeing 50cc oldies carrying that plate !
One day I think we will have to make an overhaul on his gilera 50cc from the 70's just to be able to carry the licence plate :woohoo:

Mit freundlichen Grüßen !
