TOPIC: installed pcv and quick shifter today!

installed pcv and quick shifter today! 2 years, 7 months ago #1

First and formost, I have to say "THANKS" to ken for all the phone help. He walked me step by step with my install. First I installed the pcv and took the bike out for a ride. I have the xpipe, filter and air box mod. I noticed the bike is smoother and now 2nd gear roll ons feels like 1st gear did before! Now 1st gear is just a smoking JOKE! Then Ken helped me install the quick shifter and download the info to make it work. Install was very easy and it works GREAT! I had it set at 3000 just to test, and now have it set at 6000. Shifter works better than I could have expected. I have had 2 other electric shifters before, all with just trouble getting them to work right and shift. I was out riding for 2 hrs tonight and as of now, the quick shifter is a 10!

ride safe,
vegas tom

Tom, What do you mean that you had it set to 3000rpm? Do you have to plug into laptop to change the rpm that you can shift at without the clutch? Can you change the "kill" time for your shifts with this unit? How smooth is this unit?

To change the rpm that the unit will be able to shift, you have to download from the dynojet map. You can change your kill times also. The unit works very nice.

you have several options with the powershifter. first is setting the minimum rpm that will activate the shift interrupt. if you set it at 3k rpm, then below this the powershifter does not work (you can still shift, you just need the clutch). above this rpm, when you move your shifter up, you will momentarily stop the injectors which allows a nice crisp shift.

you also have the ability to change the interrupt time. i use 65ms (milliseconds) but you can adjust it to your riding style. you also have the ability to adjust the interrupt differently for each gear (if you configure the system correctly).
