TOPIC: Monster Pipe prototype

Monster Pipe prototype 2 years, 6 months ago #1

Was a productive weekend after all. Build an all stainless mid pipe - let's call it the Monster Pipe.

I was looking for a simple yet highly efficient design, that can be manufactured in stainless, can hold the stock mufflers and basically any custom exhaust.

I am currently waiting to get a set of stainless mufflers that I will adapt and test as soon as I get them.

Here are a few specs:

.) All stainless
.) Mandrel bends
.) Custom Collectors
.) cross pipe
.) stepped design (2 steps opening up the diameter gradually)
.) only 3 lbs and 15 oz!
.) added 2 O2 sensor ports after the pics were taken
.) cannot drag any more than the stock design

SInce its Sunday, I have not had a chance to run it on the dyno. Will do that Monday or Tuesday.
From riding I can already tell that if works very well. Seems to have very good torque and top end.

FYI It took a total of about 10h to R&D fabricate this mid pipe.

I am talking to 2 US exhaust makers to potentially build this design in quantities, together with their mufflers - potentially multiple different muffler options - all in stainless to match the bikes setup.

What do you think?

PS: Please excuse my bloody welds - I am a hobby welder after all...

Yes indeed. Isn't is interesting what you can make out of a pile of 'junk' ?

Sounds oh-so sweet. Can't wait to see the dyno numbers.

1 quick technical question... now that u stepped up the ID, will you have to modify the inlet on the OE cans to gain full advantage?

or will that not be an issue??
