TOPIC: Wide rear wheel questions

1. Is there anybody that has it that hates it?
2. I have read that I have to remove the inner plastic swing arm cover and it requires more cleaning. Is that such a big deal? 3. Does it drastically change the handling of the bike? 4. Is the rear wheel noticebly different in finish than the front wheel that someone would notice without me pointing it out. |

1. I don't
2. It's no big deal. 3. Yes it does effect the handling in turns to a small degree, but not even close to making me take it back off. 4. The rear wheel doesn't look much different than the front and NO one is gonna care or notice much. |

1.) Absolutely love it!
2.) Inner plastic cover CAN be cut to "closely" fit wheel and tire. I scalped this thing so you can't get much more than a piece of hair between...(SEE PIC). I don't think it's a good idea to get gritty rain water in there which WILL happen over time. If you don't use plastic cover, the only way to "clean" that area would be to remove pumkin, thus enabling you to remove wheel kit. (pain in the ass to keep doing all the time...let alone every time a new tire need to be shoed on). Let's see here... 3.) The handling is not "drastically" changed (just a little, but not enough to mention) If you hopped on someones Max and didn't know it had the wide tire, you probably would'nt even know the diff. 4.) Couldn't tell you about the flat black as I had Ken @ YamahaSickness powdercoat mine as a package and it came out awesome! 5.) GET IT ORDERED!

we've sold about a dozen of these kits and so far everyone has been very happy. i was also concerned about leaving the cover off but since it now states this right on the yamaha wide wheel instructions i feel better. also, the color difference seems to be not as noticable - i had the first kit available and the color was flat as opposed to satin. the newer wheels seem to be a little closer to the stock color.
btw, we just got another shipment in and have five wheels still available in you need one. |

Whats to Hate the burnout marks are way wider!
But the wheel is much harder to install.. and its worth it! Handles great not much just change the way you ride a bit.. The flat finish looks like its dirty all the time...? In the Arizona sun it looks way different, does not match but not hard to fix the color, Get one or want one forever! Don`t pay more than 800.00 for the kit, Normal retail for the Wide wheel kit and hardwear is $845.00 unless you want to support the site sponsors! (had to add this just in case you bike does not start!) I found one kit for 761.00 with bearings shipped save your extra cash for tires!

Ken, why will you not be able to use the stock wheel? if you reinstall the bearing retainer the bearing are still there you just may need a seal if you dont take care getting it out.

I know that when I get my bike next spring you will be getting a call from me for sure!! |
