I know but its easier to just go by Grover. I really don't know why I didn't use it for my username. Oh well. Live and learn.

Well I just did Alter's 2009 !

Didn't even have to use the gasket !

Works like a charm !

The only draw back I can say about this Mod, Is the clutch lever pressure is definately increased. Which it should be !

It's just that your left hand doesn't appreciate it the first couple rides--especially at stop lights !

Alter told me that it's much easier to do those rolling darkies !

I just saw him do a couple 30 footers in sequence. He went a little to the left for 30ft and eased off the throttle and then immediately back on it for another 30 footer to the right ! It looked awesome.

He said that it was only 3/4 throttle too !

The clutch definately hooks up !

I did it about three weeks ago, and absolutely love it!!! I dont mind the minor difference in lever pull, because it feels so much better as far as input feel. Great mod as far as I'm concerned!! :woohoo:

Did the clutch mod this morning. Went riding this afternoon n 100 degree temps.

Clutch pull at engagement is definitely "springier" in that once you reach a certain point the effort to pull back way off. Kind of like the pull on a compound bow.

As a heavy guy, I can tell a difference in 2nd and 3rd. More power to the ground and easier to spin/wheelie.

I couldn't tell that the lever effort is all that much harder. To me it just feels a little stiffer at engagement and provides a little better feel for slipping the clutch, although all of the clutch play seems to take place in a shorter range of motion at the lever.

I went ahead and used a new gasket since here was a lot of gasket material on both surfaces when I pulled the cover off. Cleaned the surfaces, installed new spring and gasket and put it back together.

Very easy mod. Just make sure you put a rag over the clutch innards while scraping off the gasket material. One of my wife's wash cloths was the perfect size!!! :woohoo:

OK OK OK .......You guys wore me down I finally did the mod and it's impressive the word I would use is crisp not that there was anything wrong with the original but it's sure freshened up the drive train and I had no tire lock up downshifting the twisties well if you wanna call em that in florida
and I have the fine Italian shorty levers and no noticeable grip pressure at least for me but I have an iron grip from fishing anyway no changes there took all of about 20 minutes and have a good Snap on 3/8 ths torque wrench so feel confident with the install piece of cake and a great bang for the buck

It's usable now , I only have 150 miles on this mod but glad I did it, If you clutch had been in the bike for a while and has some wear mine at 3 k the secondary diaphram rests inside the lip ,You would have to have a castastrophic faliure to dislodge the outer D spring it fits right it there with the rest of the innards and torque to specs you should be good to go.

Did you buy or borrow a torque wrench ?

I bought a Craftsman Digitork and am real happy with it.
