TOPIC: Clutch MOD!!!! OH MY.. AWESOME!! Pics

Re: Clutch MOD!!!! OH MY.. AWESOME!! Pics 1 year 11 months ago #121

I did this mod today finally and I think that I did everything right. Was fairly simple however from what I have read some of you guys say that you are no longer comfortable with the point that the clutch disengages which makes me think I did something wrong.

From my experience I had to set the clutch adjustment from 4 to 1 at first, then as I rode for a bit before long I was letting it out to 2 and may probably be able to go back to 3.

It is almost like it self adjusted. Was that not the case with you guys?

After breaking it in the clutch felt very different than it did right after the mod.

The last one I worked on it took a dozen or so pulls on the clutch for it to feel "right". It wll pump up and get firm, then stay that way.

Hi all just my 2cents worth
I had the Yamaha MT -01 which has the same clutch as the Gen2 Vmax and yes my clutch started to slip at the 13,000 mile mark my weight is 18st and my wife came out with me on most rides adding another 10st but on the MT forum in the UK they have also gone into great detail as to the slipping clutch and a lot of them said that putting fully synthetic oil in is the may cause for making the clutch slip this is a link to the MT owners club www.mt-owners-club.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=3239 you should be able to view the topic as a guest but at the end of the day I ended up putting a new clutch in the MT-01 with a stage 3 clutch spring that Yamaha made for the MT but only did 150 on it then saw a VMAX for sale and got it only wish I hadn’t put the stage 3 spring in it but if you can find anyone who is selling them that would be the way I would go www.mt01.hu/upload/5yu_w0750_30_00__stag...performance_set0.pdf so don’t it just piss you off that Yamaha know it was a weak for the MT they come out with a performance kit giving the MT another 10 BHP at most stock MT was only 95BHP then come out with the VMAX at 160BHP and put the same SH*T spring in it why didn’t they just make the stage 3 spring as standard fitment for the VMAX it’s not as if the Max is going to be used as a gentile pull away from the lights is it its advertised as a bad ass I’m going to leave you behind in a blaze of smoking rubber only thing that’s going to be smoking is the clutch while a Busa comes past with a big grin on his face

Unfortunately that kit is more than a clutch spring. It's an ECU, valve springs, Cam, pistons, etc. Now listed as obsolete, but I found 1 site that has it for 7600 Euro's!

Re: Clutch MOD!!!! OH MY.. AWESOME!! Pics 1 year 1 month ago #130

I have ordered parts 3 days ago, today I have contacted partshark.com and here is their response:

"Yamaha shipped the Gasket to us and it is scheduled to arrive today. The CLUTCH SPRING Yamaha shows is scheduled to ship from their California warehouse on 4-5-12 and it takes 3-5 days for the order to get from California to Indiana for us to ship. Yamaha showed having stock in that warehouse, but it appears they had to order the SPRING from Yamaha Japan and that is why there is a delay. We are sorry for this delay, but since they did not have any in the US, the Japan warehouse is the only available option."

Do you guys think it is true?
From JAPAN !!!
