As promised here is the link to the filter K&N filter writeup. Don't waste your money of fake K&N filter knockoffs, when you can get the real deal for less.
www.starvmax.com/news/1-v-max-news/182-2...dirty-filter-secrets Here is last years filter test with the x-pipe: www.starvmax.com/blog/from-the-dyno-room...ter-comparisons.html Here is the favorite one: Here is a common option sold for 60-70 (blue knockoff not this original form K&N) at other places: And this is the most widely found option: |

Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out, shouting, "Holy crap...What a Ride!!

Here is a link to last years filter comparison on the X-pipe. We tested the 33-2758 against the stock air-filter on a 2009 VMax with X-Pipe:

Just got done running all these filters on the dyno for several hours. Will have to work through piles of dyno charts.
Long story short: The biggest gains from removing the restrictor. About 1 hps from the K&N vs the stock filter (does not matter what K&N). About 1 hps if you remove the rear top cover of the airbox - but only when you run the bike without the faux tank cover in place. |

Oliver, How many hps are attributed due to removal of restrictors? Graebeler Depends on the exhaust. Stock exhaust: ~2 rwhps Good exhaust (e.g. X-pipe or Arkapovic - most likely other new ones too): ~4 rwhps Hope this helps! |

Good info. What is the Monster Big Air hp contribution when paired with the Akrapovic or Xpipe vs. running the Akrapovic or Xpipe with stock filter?

We did some very detailed runs all the way from stock filter and airbox to the Big Air with the X-Pipe last year: www.starvmax.com/blog/from-the-dyno-room...ter-comparisons.html Summary: Stock bike: 172-173 (SAE) rwhps 111 ftlbs X-Pipe with stock Airbox: 180 (SAE) rwhps 117 ftlbs X-Pipe with stock Airbox - no funnel: 184 (SAE) rwhps 119 ftlbs X-Pipe with open Airbox (no cover - no filter): 187(SAE) rwhps 120 ftlbs X-Pipe with Monster Big Air (with K&N filters): 191-192 (SAE) rwhps 121 ftlbs The Akrapovic moves the best numbers up by 3-4 rwhps. That's about 12 rwhps over the stock airbox and about 8 rwhps over the airbox w/o restrictor. Check out the various charts to see the difference in torque and power curves. |
