TOPIC: Quick Shifter settings

Quick Shifter settings 1 year, 10 months ago #1

For those of you who have the quick shifter, what are the settings for the kill times that you guys are using. Does the unit come with preset numbers? And wouldn't you want the same settings for each one? I'm a little ignorant on this thing and looking for some ides.

I'm using the default settings and they work fine. I did play around with it a little when first got it - I shortened all of the times except the 1-2 shift which has the longer throw. I ended up with it back to default though. It is an absolute blast to use!

I believe I have it set to

85ms 1-2
75ms 2-3
65ms 3+

Works great. Love the sound of the quick shifts.

I am not real familiar with how this works. Is this an autoshifter or do you still shift, but it does the rest of the shift for you? Do you use it on downshifts as well? Is the time how long the bike comes off the gas? Can you still shift as normal with clutch? I bought one of these last year and have never put it on.

You still shift with your foot. The quick shifter lefts you power shift without using the clutch for upshifts. You lift the shifter and the engine fule delivery gets killed for the amount of time specified. That in return unloads the gearbox and makes for a nice, clean and extremely fast shift.

Yes you can shift normal with the clutch. You can also set rpm limits.

Hope this helps!

I have never been a big fan of those quick-, power-, etc. shifter systems as there has always been some issues with assembly and/or operation. Probably just bad luck (or bad mounting?) that mine or my buddies bikes clutchlessshifting has never worked too well.

After installing PCV last summer - which has direct CAN port for a shifter - for my gen2, I considered the accessory again. Had a look of Dynojet (DQS) along with some other aftermarket options. Land on Evoluzione Cyclespots Powershifter due recommendations on this forum and 'cos it's designed specially for VMX17.

Placed my (intl.) order a few weeks back, just finished the installation and I have not regret my decision. It looks quality product, installation is easy when you follow the guidelines and the most significant point is that it has worked faultlessly from the day one (running with PCV's factory settings).

My only complaint is that use of Powershifter causes both; the physical and the psychological addiction as well as loud roaring inside of a helmet.

N.B. Maybe experts of this forum could tell if the clutch less shifting operation produce any other side-effects - meaning the bike; gearbox, engine etc..? So, is the 'overuse' bad thing here?
