TOPIC: Touring Windshield

Touring Windshield 3 years 1 week ago #1

I received and installed Yamaha's Touring windshield today!
Install was very easy with a 10mm wrench and 2 Allen keys(4mm&5mm)
I like the looks and it's small size (for a touring windscreen)
Weather is creepy around here for a test but I'll get back with that!

Cheers
Mike

Re: Touring Windshield 3 years 1 week ago #2

Went for a ride tonight, several things I noticed, The touring shield has a cool purple hue surrounding the edge due to the headlight reflecting through it.
It seems a reflection of light is cast from the shield around the shift light area, lighting up my upper torso and helmet although not bothersome or shining in my eyes, several times during head checks I though the shift light was lit...
I didn't find the wind in my eye area as others have reported maybe I'm shorter (5'10)and I wear a full face helmet.I did find myself speeding more than usual which means the windshield is doing it's job...@ 125-145kmh all is quiet and you can really hear the engine sounds!
Anyone that lives in a colder area or does touring this shield is great! I like it!

This is the first thing that I bought for my Vmax. It is awesome when cruising at 85 mph. Its not only functional but it doesn't look too bad either.

Looks good I just wish it came in a smoked/tinted version. Be nice if someone started making one. Can it be removed easily for those times you don't want it on?

In Indiana, a smoked/tinted front windscreen on a motorcycle that is usable, meaning you have to see though it when you are riding, is illegal.

Thanks!, yes it can be removed very easy.. 4 allen (or hex bolts)
2 on the tach and 2 on the lower headlight shroud.

Looks good and provides protection. Now Canadian Max keep it on when we go to the strip hopefully it will slow you down, now you have the lights dialed in I do not think I will beat you easily, maybe this will help me out :P !

Re:Touring Windshield 3 years 5 days ago #8

Glad the touring windshield is working out for some folks! :)

I had to raise mine to get satisfactory results and I am pleased with the windshield now. I think the general recommendation on full shield heights is about nose level when sitting on the bike...that's where mine is at now.

I had mine on and off many times...I place a towel or something between the shift light and tach to protect it from getting scratched from the windshield cross bracket when removing or installing the complete windshield.
