Hi all
I am working on Max for the coming drag season in September. I am going to replace all the clutch plates, as some are a bit worn and some of the steel plates have quite a bit of discoloring.
I have been mixing and matching them to stay in specs.
I`m not quite sure whether to stay with standard Yamaha plates, or try something different?
Any suggestions????

Tried them all

First off use the Yamaha steels they are dimpled
The Barnett sucks
Ebc with the Yamaha steels work well if you want to save a few bucks
Factory set up still the best IMHO
Obviously double D springs a must
A good set of after market levers to tune engagement helps too.

I hear you, but unfortunately our bike is low in production numbers and nobody has stepped up with a suitable performance clutch for the V4. So for now, we just keep within tolerances on the stack height and use 2 springs to apply the pressure

You can look @ the size diff. in the pics.. I like the EBC fricktion plates..So far so good..I do still have a small studder in 1st gear that has not gone away tho..

Qtip, What is the part number for the ebc friction discs and where did you get them??

I tried the aftermarket clutch plates made in taiwan, but did not like the feel of it, could hardly find neutral. Took them out put my old oem back in and all is well.
See the difference from oem....there are spaces between the friction versus the aftermarket with no separation.






bottom line.....
Yamaha makes a kick ass clutch assembly. Just add the extra spring plate (double D) and
you are ready.

What did u use Rick? Brand? I Don't seem to have that with the EBC's
