TOPIC: Went to the dragstrip today

Re:Went to the dragstrip today 4 years 3 months ago #11

You guys are showing your true IQ when you talk those stupid numbers. No stocker is gonna run high 8s. Period! How bout some money on running what the books say?? When and where?

IT all depends on what you call stock, if you consider a "uncracked" motor stock then yes there is times with just bolt ons that have run high 8's, go look at the Busa and zx-14 websites of track times, then you can talk, if you want I can ask a couple of my friends to post there time slips running mid 9's with just a lowering strap.

Really this should not be a debate, you posted times, we commented, if you all wanted us to say those were great times then maybe you should just tell your friends and family and they can make you feel better.

Yeah I saw an episode of "Pass" on speed channel where a 13 yr old that weighed 119 lbs rode a new Busa with 25 miles on it to 9.28 with a strap & pipe. Depends on what you call stock & the rider size. Strapped, w/pipe, and 120lb rider isn't STOCK or the typical rider you find.

I guess it is like when the kid down the street walks for the 1st time, who cares. But when your kids walks for the 1st time it is a big deal. If the kid was riding a VMax that would be a big thing on this list with that time.

Hello fellas-B)

Wanted to come on and defend myself. Heh. i'm the guy on the zx14.

That was the first time on the bike since the motor bent a rod. Been around 6 months since i had ridden it. Only had 100 miles on the motor.
That day at the drag strip, i got two passes. The bike was stock wheelbase, full brocks pipe, and no power commander. It was lowered, however and a front end strap.

The first pass.. I don't remember what it was, 9.80 or somethin like that. The pass against the vmax, i decided i should try launching a bit harder. Which, didn't work out very well. Bike went nearly straight up in the air, i let out and got it settled back in a straight line. Continued the rest of the pass about 3/4 throttle sitting up as if i were riding down the highway.

2 weeks later, same track different song. I got about 10 passes in. Finally got a feel for the bike, ran a 9.56 @ 151 mph. Still stock length, pipe lowered and strapped.

2 weeks later again, (last night). I installed swingarm extensions and a -1 front sprocket. Only got four passes in, bur ran a 9.27 @ 149.

A stock bike isn't going to run 8s. A bike with a pipe, lowered, and strapped is not stock.

See ya'll at the strip :P Be glad to line back up if ya want ;)

The next run was against my son Craig on the Bking. To be fair, he arrived late with some kind of stomach virus and only got to make 1 run. Rider/bike we are about even with him outweighing me by 100 lbs and Vmax outweighing the Bking by about the same.
Vmax 10.76 @132.21 Bking 11.10 @124.82

At least the Bking is consistent
