Today we are about to embark on a slightly different record attempt on the all new VMax.

As part of our current Wild Wild West Round trip we have a chance to ride Extraterrestrial Hwy - 160 Miles of relatively flat no fuel stops.

Last year the 'winning' bike was an almost stock RS Warrior which got 62mpg - only 2.8 gallon of fuel for those 160 miles.

So today we are doing it again. This time we are taking a 190 rwhps VMax on that very same trip.

It will take 42-45mpg to make it, but how much more is possible? Can we hit 50mpg?

We should finally get a highway mpg rating for the VMax.

My Max is still completely stock and have been playing around with both speed and rpm settings... Have found that the Max gets the absolute best mpg at throttle and rpm settings below 2800..

Short shifting helps a huge amount also. Using short shift (2k rpm) and keeping under 2800rpm, best mpg was 49 mpg.. Just raising the rpm to 3k or higher dropped mpg down by 10%.. This bike is extremely limited by the low gear ratio. But im sure they did that to enhance acceleration characteristics... This bike feels like it has the power to run another gear for cruising. It has soooo much torque in stock form, it could easily pull it.

Good luck Oliver. Thats a long way to go on the Guzzler. You'll need to get as areo as possible. Like getting down so low you'll be under the paint. Left arm behind you. Thats alot of miles in a tight crouch.

Yes, good luck. The best I've seen on mine was 30.6 and that was mainly highway miles and "trying" to take it easy. Keep us updated!
