I had the greatest expereince today at the Drag strip. Jason and a few guys asked me to come out and try my hand at it. I never have done it before....but after a few runs it was alot of fun for me. Of course I was a complete tool and didn't get the launch right or the lights, but I'll get better the more I do it.
I had a couple of guys from the Beaumont area who took the time to help me and run with me (James rode a super quick ZX14 low 9.2's) and sort of keep me from looking like a total idiot. Then Jason and the sportbike guys showed up and coached me some more. My first run was 11.7 122mph My second was 11.3 My third was 10.8 my fourth was 10.8 128mph my 60 ft times were 2.5 down to 1.9 I need to learn the lights better and learn to launch better. I also need to shift better and try NOT to get that 6th gear before the end of the 1/4 mile run LOL! Oh and learn to close my face shield BEFORE I launch. It looks like I found a new hobby to learn some skills on. I also never did a burnout before and got the tire in the water and spun it, but forgot to burn it off before I staged a couple of times....and then didn't get the tire to hook up after the green light until about 60ft down the lane......hahahahaha! |

Sounds like you had a good time, and that's what its all about. For your first time what does one really expect. Like with anything-PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE.

Good job Rick. I'm glad to hear you had fun. Its a VERY addicting sport. And one where there is always room to step up in. Like has already been said practice is the key. Ride safe.

Hi Rick! I'm glad we could help. Seat time will get you where you want to be in dragracing.
You have the coolest looking Vmax I have seen in all my days. Also, it is the baddest sounding bike I have ever heard. Awesome. |

Ain't Rick's Max bad ass!?!? I saw it in person once but would love to hear it make a pass or two. Hell, I like to race ya Rick. Next time you head out give me a heads up. I am glad to know that I am not the only one that has left the visor up. It gets your attention quick though. It is always something, last time I forgot to lower tire pressure. Very nice times for your 1st time out. It is 100% different launching at the drag strip and is not easy or everyone would do it right? Good Job. |
