Why would someone brag about an 09 making 206HP with a 40HP shot of NOS?? Or am I missing something?

If it's the someone I think you are talking about, It looks to me that was it not a "complete" good dyno run. Problems with traction. They were able to record 172.lbs of torque (WOW!). My guess is that it made 206 hp right at the moment it made 172 lbs tq....and then the tire was breaking loose. So in other words that was the maximum #'s they could record. It's probably making over 250hp. Mark |

I don't care for nitro, mostly cause I don't know enough about it or what it does for your engine life.
I DO LIKE making around 200rwhp with just tune and mechanicals. Things I understand... not VooDoo Juice which I think you can't run all the time. So either you have an actual engine that makes HP ALL the TIME or you don't.....Now that didn't make any sense did it? |

Sounds correct, they were having trouble keeping the beast strapped down good enough. On Nitrous...nothing wrong with running it if you understand how it works and its perameters you need to work within. Per your engine setup, you can't get to crazy with it or you will damage something. Used in a sensible amount it is wonderful stuff, hardly changes the compression number, makes a super cold intake charge of the fuel/air and walla MORE power.

I get my nitrous boost by riding in 3 degree weather. This way both man and beast get the jolt. Love to ride, love my bike, love the look it puts on peoples faces as I go by!

Nitrous can be fantastic, and like dlcrays said, if you keep it sane it won't hurt the motor. The problem is that you end up chasing the bottle constantly. I prefer power adders that don't run out... superchargers/turbos. I've never heard anyone say... "hey wait a second while a refill my blower, then we can race".
Using both boost and nitrous together? Now that's just AWESOME! Putting it down to the ground is the problem there.... Something's wrong... I understood sfcrick perfectly.... |
