TOPIC: Shinko tires
Re: Shinko tires 11 months 1 day ago #11

Been to the dragstrip 4 days and the shinko hooks up like nothing else. I will be buying another set to put on at the end of the riding season. Also noticed that running at 15psi just a quick warm up in the water is all that is needed, which helps with tread life.
Bob,....got her into the 10's .....I'll post more details Rick |

That AVON AV72 COBRA CRUISER / CUSTOM
Snakeskin sidewall treatment complements the Cobra logo and tread design; truly a unique custom look. Fits everything from Valkyries to Customs. Advanced Variable Belt Density (A-VBD) rear construction uses a densely wrapped belt in the center of the tire for stability, wear and mileage, the belt is less dense on the shoulder for a huge, compliant contact patch Price: $210.33 Size: 240/40R18 Rim Size: 18 Wheel Position: REAR Tube Type: TL Weight: 19.00 lbs Item ID: 4700019 That's why it last sooooo lonnnngg.. Extra 4 lbs of rubber on there.. Go with the Shinko Capt..You have to @least try it out..Bet u luv it!!! |

Thanks Ted might just take ya up on that my dealer will only mount tires bought from them but he gives me good deals and will be competive plus Walter the Tech is the only one that mounts my BST's anywho how long are the 240's lasting ? got a few running those right ?
Thanks for the fact finding Guys And congrats Rick on your improvements all the sudden you will get the hang of it and it will all fall into place and you will be busting 9's before they close the track for winter these hot muggy days dont yield good times you need some 50 degree and matching humidity and it's fair to do the elevation correction you will be a 1/2 second faster at sea level I think Mark knows the formula on that you and George, Maxout all running 4000 ft elevation need to figure that in. I am going to call my guy and price the Shink what one should i be looking at i want top performance but some longevity as well. And I am going to price the Dunlop as well , Lucikly my Dealer will chasnge my 240 mounted and balanced for less than 100 bucks before tips. |

Bob,
This is what you run with the BST setup... Shinko 005 Advance Radial 240/40-18 V-Rated Shinko 011 verge 120/70-18 Z-Rated My best run was a 10.87 at 126.8 mph reaction time was .0660 60 footer was 1.75 Douglas is 4900 ft elevation and it was 98 degrees. As far as elevation correction....ET 10.87 x .9393 = 10.21 mph 126.8 x 1.0647 = 135 Low 10's is respectable and after I get the Takai coil packs and new plugs, plus cooler temps I could break into the 9's with the correction figured in. Got my Shinko's installed last week. Anytime I get new tires it feels good. Just barely lean and I am in the turn. So far I really like them, the real pay off wll be if I get 4200 miles out of them like Ted does. They really seem to hook up better. I haven't been to the track, just notice how well they grab when I hammer it on the street.
