TOPIC: Gearing Commander, for chained bikes, Not for VMax

Gearing Commander, for chained bikes, Not for VMax 2 years 6 months ago #1

I only have Max, so this doesn't apply to me. I thought those of you with non-shaft driven bikes might find this tool useful/interesting.

Gearing Commander is a tool to calculate online or offline the effect of
changing various parts of a motorcycle's drive train.

They have a large list of bikes in their database. If you find that your bike isn't listed, simply go to the "Add Bike" page where you can submit your bike's info to have it entered into their database.
  • • You want to get a little faster of the line ?
  • • You want some more top speed ?
  • • You want some more gas mileage (MPG) ?
  • • You want to know how another rear tire size affects your gearing and speed ?
  • • You want to know what chain length to use after changing sprockets ?
  • • You want to know what sprocket combination causes the least chain and sprocket wear ?
  • • You want to know how to set your SpeedoHealer correctly ?

Using the Gearing Commander you can:
  • 1. See theoretical top speed of your bike in all gears
  • 2. See effect of sprocket changes on speed at specific RPM
  • 3. See effect of sprocket changes on RPM at specific speed's
  • 4. Compare speeds in stock, current and custom setup related to gear and RPM
  • 5. Compare top speeds in custom setup for 49 sprocket combinations for use on the racetrack
  • 6. See effect of other rear tire dimensions (for instance wider) on (top) speed and gearing
  • 7. Calculate Tire circumference for setting of cycle computer
  • 8. See effect of sprocket changes on sprocket center distance (i.e. rear wheel travel needed to tighten the chain)
  • 9. Determine the number of links your chain should be to have a big enough adjustment range
  • 10. Decide on whether to have a smaller front sprocket or to have a bigger rear sprocket
  • 11. Determine the optimum tooth-links combination to minimize chain and sprocket wear
  • 11. Calculate changes on the race track without an internet connection using the Stand Alone version!
  • 12. Turn most result tables into charts and graphs for a more visual effect of the changes
  • 13. In Shift-Speed graph see results of changing sprockets on Shift-Speeds in all gears & setups (Speed range/gear)
  • 14. Create custom Final Drive Ration Chart
  • 15. Calculate correct SpeedoHealer settings

WHERE'S TED?? Ride Commandment: Thou shalt not pass the ride leader (unless you know where you're going). Friends don't let friends leave the ride, without a map or GPS. ;-)
