I went to Island Dragway last night with Mark (aka Blackmax98). It was cold and real windy, everybody was having issues hooking up when launching. Mark ran his usual very low 9's (on a 8 second bike LOL), he is still perfecting his launch on his reconfigured Busa, last night was not really a good night to practice because the track was so cold.
Anyway, some guy showed up on a new 14R, bone stock with 380 miles on it. Every pass he made I would have beaten him on my VMax.....they were all around 10.1 - 10.2. That doesn't tell the whole story however. His trap speeds were....hold on to your hats....158 MPH!! He was basically just walking it out of the hole very slowly then hammering it down the rest of the track. You have to making big power to run speeds that high. Pretty impressive. |

Very impressive. Clearly, our Gen 2's are no longer the king of stock.

Vmax is "King of the Street" where it's about light to light acceleration

I'd like to see the 60 footers and the slips. We knew that it would happen some day. I think the time is here and the 14R is the one. |

I think we stand a pretty good chance on the street against an average rider on the new ZX-14 from light to light but against someone with a lot of experience we are in trouble. In a recent Motorcyclist article none of the journalists that took the new ZX-14 down the strip could get into the nines. If I remember right the author said its a hard bike to launch.

Cycle city on Oahu had a motorcycle show last weekend. I was there talking to some of the service people about the the 14R and what crazy power it had. Funny thing is, 2 of the guys said yeah it's pretty sick, but I still don't think it will be the VMax in the 1/4 stock... I was surprised to hear that. Then I talked to the Sales girl there. She is from Kauai and worked at the Shop I purchased the Max from. She is also big in to drag racing. She said said the same thing.
So at least at this point, the Max still give's the riders the impression that it's still the King. |

Well the rider that Mark is refering to in this post was pretty close getting into the nines with horrible track conditions. I'm sure it's a bear to launch. Since his bike and only 380 miles on it, I think that he was getting a feel for it. |

He wasn't even trying to launch hard at all from what I could tell. I'm sure if he did he would have had his hands full (if he didn't spin the tire on the cold track) because with the stock wheelbase that bike is a wheelie machine. An extended swing-arm and strap would fix that and put that bike in the low 9's easily. In the hands of an average rider....light to light, the Max would have a shot for sure, but have no doubt that's only because the 14 makes so much power in a short wheelbase light bike, that it's very hard to keep the front wheel down. With enough room the 14 would eventually go by the Max like it was standing still. |

Problem with last night was it was real cold and 20mph winds , Poor Mark froze his ass off , my right foot was numb . The guy that had the 14 was a Dick too , Here is a clip of the 14 thanks to Mark who they let eat rubber and gas all night at the line |

Went with Brock Davidson to Edge water dragway near Cinci Ohio last night with "Slugger" the 14R we have been working with the past month and the owners rider went 8.87et @ 158mph on a very cold slick race track.
Bike is stock wheel base with Brock's pipe and tune , no engine mods at all , made 220HP on pump gas , rider was around 160 suited. Its one bad ass bike for sure. |
