intercom info wanted 1 Year ago
I know I'm ignorrant so please help me. I want a wireless intercom that will accept phone use but can opperate as an intercom without using the phone as a connector. Is there such a wireless setup and if so what is the name/s , and what would I have to purchase to connect to my passenger ? Would I have to order 2 kits? Someone please enlighten me!

I have experienced scala Q2 and blueant intercom F4.

scala is nice product. The blueant disconnects from the friend when she gets more than 400 m behind and it doesn't reconnect aparently the scala system will still reconnect and battery life lasts a hell of a lot longer.

also above 65-70, my blueant F4 starts annoying noices, so it becomes impossible for me to enjoy music or stay connected with riders. Its just a useless device for me. so I would recommend scala to every one.

I also have the Scala Q2. I have used it all last summer when riding the FJR. At full autobahn speeds voice communication and GPS info are still audible and understandable, however music was not so good. I have never tried taking/making a call at 80 (140) so I have no idea if it worked. I have used it many times to talk on the phone while stopped and it works flawlessly. I have a Garmin Zumo 660 that everything routes through. It was also easily discovered by the TomTom Rider that I had on my Gen1 Max with the same results.

I believe that the next (new) Generation of Scala products are even better.

IMHO the weakest link in the setup is the speakers.

Hope that this has been helpful.

I was a user of scala, worked pretty fine for me. But then I sold out scala and bought interphone F4. I have made a biggest mistake. I

have wasted a huge amount, just to buy that cheap product. I was facing many problems with this device, including the voice quality

problem. When I went to return this product (the interphone F4) Blueant were a nightmare to deal with. I would not recommend this

product to anyone ? the voice quality is pretty bad. Try a can and a string ? it would work better.

I am running a Chatter Box intercom, works up to 8 kms or 5 miles- even further when in level areas with little of no hills. You do not need a second intercom for the passenger becuase is has 2 ports built in for rider and passenger aswell as a cell phone input. I run with two seperate intercoms for the rider and passenger, just because I find it easier, no need for the passenger to have to plug and unplug his/her mic-earphones in and out of the back of your Chatter Box everytime they get on or off.
Hope it helps!

I've read a not so good Comment in another Forum. Sounded like there are Problems. I'm not much interrested in that Stuff, but from what i read, this G4 must be a brand new Product and there's Room for Improvement left.

On the bright Side, the Poster said later, someone from Cardo did obviously read his Rant there, discussed it in the House and then contacted him direct about 4 Days later to take care of the Problems and make it right. Sounded exceptional and very responsible for me. I wish Yamaha/Star would act like this ...

ive just bought a scala g4 and couldn't be happier
had a big 3 day ride with some mates the other day and couldn't fault the system at all.
range was the big thing, it works from more than a km apart!
the audio was crystal clear even when traveling upwards of 120 kph . admittedly we didnt use it for music though
