I thought I would take-this opportunity/advantage-of Oliver to ask him a couple of tough questions. Over the years you have had a number of Really Bad Rides. Of which I know you still have at least 4 ! I'm sure you have your own opinion of each--Good and Bad--(Bad-meaning not so good.) Well narrowing the field down to your two most current rides--Your VMax and Your R-1 LE, Here's a few questions ! (DISCLAIMER--Answers may not be avoided by useing the excuse of the R-1 not being broke-in or not having had it long enough to say--AS WE KNOW THAT's NOT TRUE ! Also all questions must be answered regardless of how tough they are !) 1)Which one do you like better ? 2)Which one do you ride more ? 3)Which one is quicker in the 1/4 mile ? 4)Which one is fastest-top end ? 5)Which one does your Wife like best ? 6)Which one do your friend's like best ? 7)Which one is going to the Dragon next year ? 8)Which one does the best burn-out ? 9)Which one Scares You The Most ? And I saved the toughest question for last ! 10)If your garage was on fire ? And you already saved your family and all your pictures and your laptop, And you could only save one,---Which one would you save ? Were All Waiting To Hear The Answers ! Mark P.S. Oliver, Just wanted to hear more about the R-1--You haven't posted anything ! Guess you'll just have to answer the questions now--Or risk disappointing everyone ! |

Let me take a stab at this:
1)Which one do you like better ? All around: VMax - heads down. Most local backroads I can take faster than on the R1. A little weight is not always a disadvantage, especially if the roads are a bit rough and bumpy. I used to love my Warrior but with the VMax the Warrior just feels slow and bulky and the handling of the VMax is way better. On the perfect curvy road the R1 is king, but there are few and far in between here. 2)Which one do you ride more ? So far the VMax, although the Stratoliner had 26k miles on it. In general I do some 20k miles on my bike per year. The last 1000 on the R1 to break her in, but I can't wait to get the VMax back from the shop tomorrow (service and a little sidestand switch fix - got ground off at the Dragon 3)Which one is quicker in the 1/4 mile ? I bet the VMax. Have not had the R1 out there, but the VMax makes some 50 hps more and its short gearing got me a 9.74 at my bulky 230+ lbs - I doubt the R1 will get me into the 9s 4)Which one is fastest-top end ? R1 hands down 5)Which one does your Wife like best ? The Stratoliner I just sold. She is not big into bikes, but if it would be a cruiser. 6)Which one do your friend's like best? Tough call - depends. The Turbo Warrior has earned its spot with the Warrior crowd and many local friends. The VMax pulls in people like crazy, especially when I fire her up. The R1 - even the LE - is pretty crowd calm. A few 'nice bike' that's it. 7)Which one is going to the Dragon next year ? Hmm - Not sure yet. Could be the R1. If I have the option, I would bring the R1 and VMax. 8)Which one does the best burn-out ? Hands down the VMax. 9)Which one Scares You The Most ? The turbo Warrior. That thing was not made for 2x the stock horsepower. Even the Galfer brakes can't slow that hing down with authority. And I saved the toughest question for last ! 10)If your garage was on fire ? And you already saved your family and all your pictures and your laptop, And you could only save one,---Which one would you save ? 1.) VMax 2.) R1 3.) Taks a pick Hmmm - sounds about right I think. Having said that I can't wait to do my first track day on the R1. That's what I got her for... |

Well that didn't take too long at all Mark.
I am starting to think that you Americans don't understand the concept of vacation Oliver. Can't say I blame you with 1 week per year. You can hardly do anything with that. That's one thing Aussies have that's great. 4 weeks paid leave and shit loads of public holidays every year and I get an additional 3 months paid every time we have another kid. I think 2 is enought though. My wife is from Ohio, and she is still adjusting to so much time off. Now, go on get out of here Oliver, you are burning valuable twisities time |
