This years GP provided a good moto2 race and a rather uneventful MotoGP race. Danni P. ran away from it after passing up Spies in the 4th or 5th lap. Stoner crashed out and the MOTO2 race was red-flagged due to a 4 bike crash. There was also a tragedy in the 125 race when a young 13 year old rider fell off his bike and was run over by another 12 year old rider. The 13 year old died later that day. Ill post up a link to the story later in the thread.
All and all I had a great time, rode down with my brother in law and my cousins. Max snacked on a Z1000 and an 07 R1 for most of the ride down there. Most memorable race was a 3rd gear roll on from around 60 to more than I would like to admit. I was 2 bike lengths behind both of them, they hit it.. I went too.. by the time the R1 went around the z1000 I was going around both of them leaving them pretty bad.. Indy threw a party on Friday and Saturday night, tons of bikes! Peaceful crowd, didnt see one altercation considering the diversity of bikers there. Harleys were makin their noise, trying to get attention.. pretty much no one gave them any.. Watched the race with Mr. and Mrs. CruiseMissle and had a grand ole time in the RedBull Turn 2 Suite. I also got to take a quick snapshot on Iconic. Great time at the GP, cant wait till next year. Well... My brother-in-law had the only paddock pass. He was in the main Red Bull suite in the pagoda. He took the pics of the riders and Leno with my camera. I saw the race from the other Red Bull suite with Randy and his wife. The suite was no slouch, DJ, 3-4 flat screens, air conditioning, and of course food and tons of Red Bull! The Indy Colts were next door, but I didnt recognize any of the players. All and all I had a blast! Poor Iconic was left out in the sun.

The race weekend was spectacular. Until the dark news set in this morning. Yesterday, I didn't know it was Peter that lost his life.
Hanging with Kodiak and his crew was bitchin. We sure got lucky. The RedBull suite was sweet. I drank about a dozen RedBulls and was jacked up for a long time. The 9 hour drive home was like a cakewalk. Normally rolling in at 3 am after 4 days of excitement isn't easy. The entire time was unforgetable. The helmet auction went off quite good. The proceeds went to the Pediatric brain tumor foundation. Who also had a great turnout for their Ride for Kids. Sherry arranged for Icon to send the newest Airframe Apocolypse helmet to us, we custom painted it with the Motogp logo , fire and the Yamaha tuning forks. Bob Starr was gracious enough to haul it into the paddock and get Valentino, Jorge, Ben and Colin to sign it. Then on Saturday after the Crash concert featuring James Toseland( which was awesome by the way), Ralph Sheheen did a fantastic job with the auction. Sherry got on stage with Ralph and held the helmet for the crowd to see. The bidding went all the way up to $4,250. It was really something to be a part of. It could not have happened without the co-operation of IMS, Speed, Yamaha, Icon, motogp and the foundation. It was for a very good cause and was very appreciated. One of the highlights for me was getting the Vmax on the track. I did the ride for kids but got there a minute or 2 late. The whole pack of riders was way ahead of me so I was able to wick ICONIC up a few times around the Brickyard. Accelerating accross the line of bricks was pretty damn cool. The people in the stands seemed to like seeing the max on the track. I have lots of pix but how do I post em? |

Randy, best thing to do is probably make an album then you can tag all of them at once and upload them together, otherwise you can only do 4 pics per post. (when the file explorer window opens up navigate to where the pics are, click only one to make the window active then click CTRL-A and it will highlight all the files at once, then just clicky <open> and watch them upload)
Cheers' |

Kodiak and CruiseM thanks for the write up and the photos.
Love the MotoGP. So sad such a young rider died. You really had a great seat there to watch it all so close! Must have been a great event. And I can bet you'll be exhausted after such a long ride home. But it's all worth it! Enjoy it while you can! |
