Hey just wondering if anyone has any input, good or bad on the air flow/performance of the Accel kook blue replacement filters? I just installed one after doing the air box mod, and am wondering if anyone else has any input. Can't seem to find anything on the Internet, other than on Accels own web site. I'm looking for an honest un-biased opinion or comparison to others such as K&N. Thanks for any info.

"The Accel Kool Blue air filter was designed to not only be the best filter you'll ever buy, but also the last. It's constructed from 100 percent surgical cotton gauze that's sandwiched between layers of blue epoxy-coated, galvanized steel wire mesh. The fabric is soaked in oil and stops dirt particles as small as 2.8 microns from entering your engine. Plus, this design enables the air to flow faster through the filter, increasing horsepower and torque. The filter is completely washable and will last the life of the car with proper maintenance."
Seems like hype to justify that $$$ price tag, and the key sentence above says it all "with proper maintenance". You need to "maintain" that filter for it to last.. I'd rather change mine. You're not going to see any difference in performance between air filters that utilize the stock airbox. Tim & I spent an entire day doing dyno pulls on my bike with various air filters and there was no clear cut winner. They all do their job and filter the air. They all flow enough air to feed the airbox adequately. The major improvement comes when you remove the airbox entirely and go with 4 seperate filters, and even that comes with a cost of low end torque. Buy whatever is cheap and change it regularly.. From K&N's website; "Filter Cross Reference for K&N Part CM-9908 Manufacturer Part Number CAN-AM A13192" CROSS REFERENCE TO: Motorcraft FA-949, Fram CA3559, Wix 46120, AC A858C, Purolator A13192, Hastings AF842. Fits many 1981-1996 Dodge Chrysler & Plymouth products. |

I used this filter from UFO and I liked it alot and noticed a little hp gain and sound with the back top removed from the air box.. Got to say I love my K&N stacks tho..
I did sell it on the forum and he likes it as well. |
