TOPIC: I WANT YOU to estimate my bike value $$$

I WANT YOU to estimate my bike value $$$ 5 years 1 month ago #1

Part of my game plan is to sell my gen1 Max this spring. F#&cking awesome bike, have loads of unforgettable good-time memories...(archived on dvd as well). Would like to keep it but is not part of my "game plan". That was then...and this is now...and my '09 is all I need now fur sure. Some of you guys and gals have experience here, what do you think? How much? Year:2000. Miles:25,000. 2nd owner (my DAD was the first). Condition: overall very good (some clear coat pitting espeacially the wheels). Runs and rides very well. Stage 3 carb kit w/two brothers exhaust. Spring's here...economy's down...all things considered. I have an idea how much but PLEASE LEAVE YOUR QUOTE.

The used V-Max market is not what it was a year or 2 ago. Combination of the economy and a mini flood of Gen 1's being sold by new Gen 2 owners (like you & me). I think my 98' with a ton of non-bling performance - expensive aftermarket parts is worth at least $5500 - $6000, but I fear I will get nothing close if I try t sell it.
So.........don't get your expectations to high - coming up (spring early summer) is the best time to sell so clean it up, list it everywhere you can and keep your fingers crossed.

Also.if you have the stock parts (seat, exhaust, etc.) you will do better putting them back on the bike and selling the Corbin and Two Brothers etc. seperately.

I haven't really noticed prices falling on used 1st generation maxes. I base this on Ebay and Craigs list.

I think miliage is the bigest determining factor. Yor bike has a few more miles on it than some 2000 I have seen.

I think the type of mods that you have done will increase the price slightly if the buyer is planning on adding those any way. But don't expect to get your full investment back on any mods.

All that being said I think you could get between $6000-$6500

I think you will be able to sell it, no waiting, for $4000-4500.

A lot of lower mileage bikes with similar or more mods did not sell for over $5k on Ebay this winter. I almost bought a 12k mile mint '89 for $3k.

I bet when all is said and done you can find a motivated buyer and sell it for $5000. Good luck with the sale.

:)

With 25,000 miles I think you'd be lucky to pull in $3,500.

Suggested Retail Value $5480

The Kelley Blue Book Suggested Retail Value is representative of dealers' asking prices and is the starting point for negotiation between a consumer and a dealer. This Suggested Retail Value assumes that the unit has been fully reconditioned and is in excellent condition. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above. This value also takes into account the dealers' profit, costs for advertising, sales commissions and other costs of doing business. The final sale price will likely be less depending on the unit's actual condition, popularity, type of warranty offered and local market conditions.

Trade-In Value (Good Condition) $3770

Trade-in Value is what consumers can expect to receive from a dealer for a trade-in unit assuming an accurate appraisal of condition. This value will likely be less than you would receive from a private party sale because the reselling dealer incurs the cost of safety inspections, reconditioning and other costs of doing business. Trade-in values are based on clean units in good condition, with all original standard equipment. Mileage/condition and additional equipment may have a substantial impact on the value shown above.
