TOPIC: Simplest procedure to replace spark plugs?

Re: Simplest procedure to replace spark plugs? 1 year 11 months ago #91

I see that the shot of aior plug coil cap popitofferator removal system hasn't been working as well as i'd expected, so i tried it again myself.
I'm glad I did. because now that i've "PUT THEM BACK ON PROPERLY" :rollingno: :nerd: i won't have to do things like pretend i didn't notice it was running like shit!! and was taking 2wice as long to start!
For me, it wasn't so much the plugs i noticed an improvement in, but when i had the carbs synced. Turns out the definately needed adjusting and it definately improved things. I changed the plugs a few days later expecting huge things, but not really noticeable for me. And very little wear on the plugsq for 18,000 miles.`So to pop off the capsyou needa blow-gun wirh a descent volume`output and it needs to be sealed. Some guns have nozzles with air holes in the side to draw in more air. These won't help get an air-tight seal. Apart from that, 100 lbs + and it should be all good. I attached a video clip also. Hope this helps. Good luck.

I just got done installing my plugs .Got the Autolites #xs4302 from Jazz motorsports 5.99 each plus 6 bucks shipping for four of them. Autolite has a 8 dollar rebate right now. The easiest plug for me to get too was the left side ... after I took the radiator hose off the radiator!(wanted to change coolant anyways) have a pan ready a good bit of coolant will come out . The compressed air thing did not "pop off" the plug caps (just the dust boots) but it did help removing I simply twisted and pulled and blew air at the same time after some sweat they will come off I think this will be easier next time. After I was done it looked like I got full tool box and just flipped it upside down! tools needed, Magnetic probe ,3 inch extension (maybe 2 to make it easier to twist by hand),3/8 plug socket, compressed air, patience, 3/8 torgue wrench ,if you want to torque them like I did (9.4 lbs), Budwesier ,plug gapper (autolites come about 0.30) Tylenol, when your done and carb cleaner to take some of the carbon out of the combustion chamber since my RF plug was "near" fouled ,plus it acts like a lubricant for the plug threads.Bike starts faster ,feels much crisper time will tell about the mileage have not ridden a full tank out yet. I chose the xs4302's because of there "claimed" foul resistance. I assume it's a hot plug not sure at the moment though. I Hope this is of interest to somebody , really good tips rolling in now .Thanks everybody! . Sure mine wont be the last.

Went to my dealer today to order a Slider Cap for the left side cover and at the same time decided to pick up a set of plugs since I think I need to change the ones on my 2010 since I had used some Octane Booster when I was messing around with the Nash Flash back when I was still using 87 octane...I guess I'll find out what my plugs look like when I pull them out but the bike has been hard to start after using that booster...

Anyway, my dealer's parts department told me that they ONLY sell NGKs...always have, always will...didn't get into the reasons but I just picked up four NGK CR9EIA-9 (OEM plugs) and they only cost me $8.11 ea (that includes 8.75% sales tax)...can't go wrong with a price like that...

Ready!

Behind the battery box remotely.
In front from the side with short tools.

A level rattle key would feel well.

A lot of success
