TOPIC: Replace Spark Plug Coil?
Replace Spark Plug Coil? 1 year 5 days ago #1
|
I decided to change the spark plugs today and after 5 hours I thought I was done. I went to put the last coil in with a damaged rubber grommet and I can't get it pushed in all the way. What is the secret to getting the LF coil back in place
Also, based off the pictures, would it be safe for me to continue to use this coil plug with the damaged grommet? I'd hate to have to spend $75 on a new plug just for the grommet. I can't find one sold separately online. Alex |

Looks fine. The o-ring looks like it keeps it sealed up. turn the tear in and you'll be good..

Seal the tear up with some black RTV silicone. Should work ok.

Thanks, Mike.
That's what I was thinking, but wanted to ask to make sure. Now I just need to figure out how to get this coil fully seated. Any one know the best way to do this? |

You could try a shallow well socket on top coil and use maybe a thin hammer handle with leverage
off the frame or maybe just your fingers once you give yourself something to push on I used a bungie to pull the radiator hose out of the way hooking it to the handlebars. If you dont feel comfortable with the boot fix i can send you one off my old OEM's i would have to get them back from Tim i left them at his shop my next tip up grab one |

Capt Bob,
I appreciate the offer. If you guys say that it will be fine, I'm comfortable with it. However, if you don't have to go through a lot of trouble I would be more than happy to buy the boot from you just to have things perfect again. Thanks for the help. |
