I agree with itgoes. Creeping would be an indication that the pressure plate isn't being pushed out far enough to release all the pressure on the plate pack. It may be as simple as re-bleeding the clutch. Seeing as it happened while at the strip?? Could be a proplem with the warped metal plates.
If its in the clutch pack it would have to of increased the thickness of the pack not reduced it as worn friction plates would do. Pop the clutch cover off and take a look. Make sure your double springs are properly in place. Remove the pressure plate bolts and pull the pack out one plate at a time stack everything as it comes out so it can be reinstalled in the same order and position. If the metal plates are blued its probably slipped. It sounds like your clutch didn't slip by your description of the last run and your trip home. I will be in Rapid City Wed and Thur with a tour. Pick me up at the Holiday Inn around 4-5pm and I'll be happy to take a look at it for you. |

I had the same symtoms harder to get in neutral a little creep when i put it in gear did not slip though in fact really did not think to much about it when i had the oil pump done I got the "dude your clutch is smoked" phone call , Mark clued me in
on the hot runs at the drags the 4-5 in a row without a real cool down all my steels were blue 2 were warped some grooving in my basket but not enough to replace that but oddly enough my friction plates were not that bad . |

Just tore into the clutch. The steels are blued and one of them I had to work back and forth to get it out. Its warped.

George you did double what my clutch did.. I had to replace mine at 9300 miles. That's when I decided to double the springs
My plates & leathers from Yamaha with the extra spring ran me $238. That was 3 years ago, today you have other choices. |

I did the recall almost as soon as it came out. The tech didn't say anything about my clutch but I think I raced more after the recall. Learning how to use the Launch Master, reflash and 17" rim took its toll also.

Yeah, that's definitely toast.. I bet there's others that are also blue. Almost all of mine were, but that was before DD days

I have the DD so I shouldn't need the spring. I like to buy local but they want $275 for parts. |

Well George thats why racers have sponsers. Thats burnt about as good as I've seen. Take the bull by the horns and figure out how to do the labor yourself and that will make it a little less painful. It's something you will be doing over and over as much as you are going to the strip. With your 6.5 times at our elevation you're right up there with the best of them if thats any consolation.
Sorry Buddy. |

They shorted me a steel when I replaced mine. Also, bleed it. |
