Hey Guys
Its 111 degrees in Sydney today and too hot to ride so I thought id have another go at the rear fender swap to the carbon fibre replacement ive got. Ive removed all the nsaid bolts and it still seems you must have to force the push in rivets??as i cant see a way to access them . Am i missing something?? cheers for the help vmaxr if this doesnt work ill take it to work and get my mech's to do it. I spoke to the guy at Yamaha Sydney who fitted the original display bike back in july 08 and even he said it was easy?? does it all come apart when the rivets are released? Ill have another cheers vmaxr |

Did you take the rear fender ass'y off because that is where you were running your new manual radiator fan switch wiring???...or is there some other reason that you need access to that area??? Just wondering since, I too am going to install the switch...against all of posts slamming the idea, since it is NOT needed because the 09 V-Max will NOT get too hot and NEVER get sluggish... Anyway, would appreciate any info... |

oops heres the piccy: its the red and brown wires,i just have them running to a little 2 pole switch,it works a treat i just havent figured out exactly wher to mount it for good, preferably up on the handle bars would be perfect just gotta find the right switch.... I see your RED and BRN wires running towards the front... I took my bike apart, looked at the wiring diagram, specs, etc. and have decided that I would go with the changes to the schematic as shown below. The reason is that, by using the +12VDC line (RED) and switching it to the power source for the fan motors (BRN) pulls too many amps for a compact SPDT switch that would neatly fit, where I want to put it. BTW...the RED wire is NOT switched and is hot all the time directly from the battery...which means that the switch could be turned on accidentally causing the battery to drain, if not careful. So, I have decided to use the GRN/YEL wire in the same connector coupler which is the low side of the relay (coil) control circuitry. The high side is the RED/YEL wire which has +12VDC whenever the ignition is ON. I'm still planning on installing the fan switch near where I already have my Garage Door Opener switch in the Aluminum cover over the instrument panel. I have one more check to do, before I do this project. That is to scope out the GRN/YEL wire that I want to use and make sure that it is in fact a GRND coming from the ECU and not something higher. I am almost sure that it is GRND, but couldn't be bothered this morning to heat the bike up and get the fans to turn on, in order to do the check...I'll get to it soon...
