Two strange things have just come up with my 09 Max that are kinda bugging me but I don't have a clue yet where they are coming from.

1st item is a very strong acid smell that has occured when bringing the RPM up a decent amount and dropping the clutch while already moving along at a decent clip (no tire spin). This smell is so strong that when my wife pulled up beside me at a stop sign yesterday and asked what it was. I'm clueless... happened twice so far.

2nd item is when the bike is parked in my garage for a while and I move it slightly I hear a very loud sharp click somewhere underneath. Yesterday I was looking at the back brake rotor and placed my hand on the seat to get back up and heard it then.

Anyone come across these things?

This smell is like battery acid but very intensified.

This strange sharp click is after the bike has been sitting and completely cooled down (like the next day)! The first time it happened the bike was covered and I just grabbed the bars to make sure steering was locked and heard the loud click underneath.

I don't know maybe it's those stinkin gremlins!

I have gotten the "egg smell" but the acid smell only once with my 1st gen..The regulator went wonky and fried my battery..As for the clicking, just hear it when cooling down.

I'd still say the cat is where the odor is coming from. It does smell somewhat acidic. Maybe it is the battery that I'm smelling sometimes? Doubt it though. I normally only get the oder after running the bike hard. I've had my bike 'go off' up to around four hours after running, but not the next day.

Did you do any mods that might effect the electrical system?

I'll have to check it out a little more to pinpoint these items. Just strange they both showed up at about the same time with 2200 miles on the bike.

Not yet! But I'm planning on changing both front and rear signals to LED.

I should probably check the battery acid level though.

Battery is a sealed Box, so no checking there ... If you could smell the Battery going south, the Bike won't start anymore.
