I have seen couple of threads about different exhaust systems. These threads are very informative but confused the hell out of me. So many combinations and choices. AND Expensive.
I want the sound of Low Deep Rumble (like Lion's Roar which can shake the things but not high pitch). Please suggest me a complete system with minimum price. How to do it myself with minimum or no instructions? Difficulty and time consumed to perform the job from scale 1-10. Thank you in advance for your time my fellow VMAXERS. |

You can gut the cat yourself (or have a welder do it) & have that deep throaty sound. You can go with several different aftermarket systems or mid-pipes that allow you to add your own mufflers. Dale Walker has a really nice complete setup (with mufflers) or his midpipe & you choose mufflers. If you prefer a 4 into 1 setup Randi (Cycleshack) has a nice setup, and Brocks Perfromance has a 4 into 1 that's shown to make most power. Vance & Hine has the CS-1 complete system with mufflers (least expensive), or the Akropovic system (most expensive). The Xpipe is the smallest (stealthy too), and allows you to run the factory mufflers,(or any brand you choose). Yes, you do have choices now, but it's up to you to decide what look, sound & performance you like. Installation of any of these systems is a pain, but you can do it with just a little help, in a couple hours

I agree with No_Max, there are alot of systems to choose from out there and the price's can range from $800.00 to over $2000.00. If a low rumble without the high pich noises or crackles I would not recomend a midpipe with stock cans. The stocks cans resonate too much and while they do offer the nice rumble at idle they crackle when you rev it up. The Vance & Hines systen is probably going to be the best bang for your buck in a 4-2 system and on a scale of 1-10 for installation is probobly around a 4, unless you have fitment issue's witch few people on this forum have had with that system but will give you the sound you are after. If you want that deep viseral growel you cannot beat the sound from a 4-1, and Randi offers a very nice slip on style 4-1 collector witch can can buy with or without a muffler so it is fairly inexspensive and give the sound you are after. Instalation is on a scale of 1-10 is about the same at a 4.

Here is Vid of the Vance and Hines system, you can pick one up if you shop around a little for just over $800.00
Here is a vid of Randi's(Cycleshack) 4-1 that I have on my bike amd I purchased mine in black with no muffler for $650.00 + shipping and any muffler that is 2.5" inside diameter or 2.25" outside diameter with fit the system. vmaxmercer |

You will have to do th AIS mod and some sort of fuel management system or better yet have your ECU reflashed by Tim Nash at Guredgear. For the ex-up valve just remove the cables and you can leave the servo in place, however if you get the reflash from Tim the ex-up removel is built into the reflash, you can remove the servo aswell and it is just plug and play. You can run without the fuel management system or reflash but the bike can run lean and prolonged use without it can damage the engine.
