A 100lbs should be worth 2 or 3 tenths. What was your best 60'? To really start seeing some good numbers, your going to have to get it down in the low 1.5's. That's going to be hard to do because of the bike's weight. You did good for a first time back.

My 60ft time was about the same as the lowered and strapped CBR1000. 1.72-75 (don't have the slips with me in the office). Also similar to what Kevin ran on the 14 during his tests.

Also, some more food for thought...

At 140 mph, you are traveling 205.3 feet per second. So each .10 is equal to 20.53 feet at the traps, or about 3 Vmax lengths.

So, a .3 difference, at equal 140 mph trap speed, is about 9 bikelengths. Very significant.

By the same token, a 1 second difference (again at equal 140 mph speed) is around 30 Vmax bikelengths.

These numbers aren't exact due to the nature of the run, but something to think about.

Elevation at that track is 69'. Your MPH does not match your ET. You should have been in the low 130's for that ET. Man you have some slow riders on 14's and others out there. As quoted from another board.

"there were also a couple 14's out there being ridden by the two worst riders i know, and i'm pretty sure they both beat him too."

Undisputed heavyweight champ. You did good running 10.3's. Practice some and you should be able to get that number down a little.

I have the slips. My other runs where in the 130s. The 'easy' one was 126 with 10.3 ET.

Yes the CBR and one of the ZX14s where faster. Both lowered to the ground and full exhaust. The CBR rider is 100lbs lighter than I am. You do the math on ET for that difference.

Now this is funny: Bad riders.

You are ok with me running the very first time on this bike, but the NHRA licensed riders are bad riders.

They might not be best of the best, but they surely run better than 99% of the population. How many folks have an active NHRA race license to begin with? Its all relative.

You lower that Max to the ground, put on a full exhaust system, maybe an air shifter and a 100 lbs lighter rider - to compare apples to apples.
LIKE I SAID FX we see the sport bikes at ATCO and the only ones in the nines are stretched, straped, slamed, piped etc

Well, Fx, again, very good times on your Vmax.

But it is true that if someone is running mid 10's on a stretched 14...they really, really suck.

As a point of reference, this is my bike with the same basic setup. My 6th pass ever on it, 1100 miles on the bike:

9.59@142 mph

That bike is sitting at about 64" wheelbase, with me at 230 lbs. suited. I am a very average rider with no NHRA license.

Of course it has went much quicker since then (9.30's@148 mph...still slow), just as you will with some seat time and setup...

You on the Vmax are around 350 lbs. heavier than the 1000 (250 lbs for the bike alone). Look at the difference the weight makes. Equal 60 ft...almost a second slower in the 1/4.

I promise you it was much easier to launch your bike; the 1000 rider had to have his hands full with almost a foot less wheelbase.

But still 3" shorter than a Vmax...

My whole point was that Mid 10's are not typical for a stretched 14...

Shane

PS. The bike went over 190 mph at The Maxton Mile on the same gearing, it was only +2. ;)

Anyway, FX....

What kind of launch rpm? I imagine it's pretty low with that much torque...

THATS THE POINT thats why the max will beat the stock sport bikes they are very hard to ride thus the name -POGOSTICK

I agree, for most people, stock vs. stock, it will be quicker.

You can just look at the Vmax and see it has a pretty good chassis setup for the dragstrip...long and low.

Something that might help you with traction...

Does the rear shock have adjustable damping?

If so, you would want to set very little compression damping, and a lot of rebound. Then the bike will squat hard, aiding traction off the line...
