I had to post this, so that everyone could see the condition that seems to be "NORMAL" for UPS and Fedex...maybe it's the volume of packages that they handle but nevertheless, it is shameful...that is why I always use USPS...
Ok...all said and done...the Boulevard Windscreen inside was surprisingly undamaged...just by luck...since it has NO bubblewrap around it...only some of that thin white foam wrapping that Yamaha uses on most of their parts and accessories and then in a plastic bag... Good thing I kept the box for the other Boulevard Windscreen, which is in NEW shape... |

I have to add not only that there packages arrive in terrible condtion that if you are shipping from the US to Canada that customs always nales it with duties and the fees that UPS adds is out of this world. I have had packages come from the US where the duties and UPS fees were more than the price of what I purchased

I had to ship my products to Cabela's or Overton can't remember which, but apparently they called me and asked that I resend another order cause the pallet of products were damaged. I received the damaged pallet of products I built and sold to them, but it had a dozen or so tire tracks all over the crushed pallet!!!!
I thought it looked like they used my pallet of products as a speed bump in the warehouse before they tossed it back into a truck...NO KIDDING!!!! It didn't look like an accident cause of the many tire tracks all over it! UPS..... I'm sure all their employees aren't that messed up...but it only takes a few bad apples! |

I've been in a UPS distribution center. There was a 3' drop at the end of the conveyor system. No kidding.

Wow that looks bad Art.
Keep in mind that many of the sorting facilities UPS runs are automated. Yes machines handle your package more than humans. (Wow that sounded dirty) so you will have issues once and while but in comparison the amount of packages handled it is really remarkable the few damage claims they have. I see more issues with the sender not packing right than damaged goods from handling by UPS. I am sure my post will not be warmly received but it is reality. |

As a former UPSer I am highly upset that you all feel that way about my former beloved employer.
CVVMAX - it appears your box got the free "Special Handling Upgrade" and the ever artful "Box Customization". Generally we charged extra for this as an entire department was dedicated to said customization. But seriously, our motto was "When it absolutely, positively has to be destroyed overnight, UPS". I think that may have actually been a US Marines saying but was wholly appropriate for UPS. I used to hear smaller TV sets and light bulbs exploding from the weight of thousands of boxes being pushed against each other. When the belts carrying the packages would back up, read part-time employees got backed up, it would eventually crush the poorly packed boxes. Oh how I don't miss those days. Everything I ship goes USPS first or FedEx second. UPS is only used as a last resort. |

That 3' drop would be for the loading and unloading of semi-trailers, or articulated lorries. The conveyors can extend in and out, so they really don't just "drop" to the ground. While packages do get dropped, it's the crush of hundreds to thousands of packages on a moving belt being forced against each other that cause the damage. Ramjet-SS is right about proper packaging. Things need padding and items in boxes shouldn't move around freely. |
