TOPIC: Reevu helmet may soon be available in the USA

Re: Reevu helmet may soon be available in the USA 1 year 8 months ago #31

That was not meant to be a dig at you Hammer. My sincere apologies. I was pointing out that the helmet is not made in the EU, rather in China.

I made a short trip with it on last night. The mirror takes a little bit of getting used to. At first I had to remind myself to use it as I was looking at the regular mirrors. I do feel that it could quickly become second nature to just have it there.

With the weather turning noticeable colder here in Germany, I am not sure how many more rides that I am going to get in this year. I will try and wear it more and report back again.

Sorry again Hammer.

Shame on me. I obviously read it the wrong way, Unfortunately it happens from time to time with electronic communications. No apology necessary. Let us know about that helmet. I should have mine soon.

So do you think once you get used to it that maybe you could go mirrorless? Or is the rear view not that good? How is it comfort and noise wise?

You could certainly go mirrorless. I will not be doing that though.

The comfort is good. It will take some breaking-in as the EPS compacts it will for sure become more comfortable. The interior is very soft but the cheekpads are somewhat stiff.

Noise-wise it is OK, but not the best that I have ever used. I would give it a 7 out of 10.

Hope that this helps!

I agree with Lee on all points. Ultimately, I wanted to remove my mirrors, but that isn't going to happen. The helmet mirror works great for views in close proximity to the motorcycle. However it doesn't fare well with looking at objects at a distance. IE making sure that someone isn’t sneaking up on you. Objects in the helmet mirror appear closer than they really are. The reflection quality with the mirror is good. There is a little wave in it. Coupled with the mirrors, it’s definitely safer than legacy helmets. If you are changing lanes and you want to check your blind spot, all you have to do is look slightly to the opposite direction that you’re are going to turn, and up. This gives you a full view into your blind spot. The peripheral vision is much better using the helmet mirror vs. the handle bar mounted mirrors. When using the mirrors mounted on the bike, I had trouble seeing brake lights on the vehicle in front of me. When using the helmet mirror, I could see the brake lights on the same vehicle with no problem. Coupled with the legacy mirrors, the helmet mirror makes traveling in traffic safer.
I’ve been wearing the helmet for over a week now and it’s starting to get broken in. It’s becoming more convertible each day. The ventilation is adequate as I have not experienced any fogging of the face shield. All in all a good helmet that provides more safety than legacy helmets.

Well today was my first long ride wearing the Reevu helmet. After a while the mirror check became as easy as if I had always had it. No more blind spot because it is checked on both sides with a mere movement to the left and right. I will have to adjust the mirror again as it is high but that is easy enough.

Plus points: Crystal clear view from the mirrored visor. Wind noise is better than my Schuberth, and nearly as good as my Arai.

Minus point (so far): chin strap is really long and it took a long time to adjust it to fit optimally. Now that it does I will trim about 2 inches(5cm)off.

I will stick by my previous rating of 7 out of 10. I like it and will for sure keep wearing it.

Now go get your own!
