Anyone seen or heard of a highway peg setup for the new 2009 Vmax? My ancient hips need to be able to stretch out on those longer rides.
Will eventually make something myself if none of the aftermarket guys decide to bother although I would prefer to just buy something off the shelf. Sam |

I'm with you Sam,really liked the set up on
the first gen Max. I'll bet somebody comes out with something, in the mean time all we can do is send out emails and put ideas in the venders heads... Marty |

You are correct. Looking at a good place to make brackets would be the strong cast front engine mount below the steering neck. This bracket has some large allen head bolts and also supports the upper radiator.

If you're just resting your feet on them, Relocate the horn and use those 2 holes on that side, opposite side has 2 also. Add a custom bent bar to go across and a set of brackets.. Voila!

the highway pegs are my first concern. All the other mods are great, but the pegs are a must for me. on long trips my hips really get sore. The old vmaxs I had had a nice frame up front of the motor. pegs really help on a long ride. If any one has seen any mods on this, PLEASE let me know.

My main concern with mounting highway pegs to the engine is that if you accedentally drop the bike it may break the engine case.
Foot rests would need to be designed to fold up or break before the case. Designing a structure with pegs to protect the engine in a fall will be difficult. |

Even though this may be a dead issue for many. We've made up a highway peg setup that attaches to the exhaust cross over pipe bolt and on each side of the bike to the coolant overflow tank and the horn brackets respectively.
Wanted to avoid direct contact with engine cases but still wanted a strong setup using a big peg like the Kuryakin ones shown in the photos. Setup works great for me. I'm 5'6" and due to a bad hip I can ride long distances know utilizing the highway pegs rather than only the OEM position pegs. We are going to jig this bracket setup and make a few more (my brother and a few other guys want them). Not hard to emulate and very effective. Sam |

Very nice! What is the going price on the pegs? I needed them on my last trip..
Or just how much for the Bar it's self and unfinished?.I can get it powder coated and get my own pegs.. And this would work great for long trips and just put it on when i need it.. Has the bar hit the ground in low turns? Any issues as of yet? I like it! Well done! |
