TOPIC: Has Anyone Installed Motolights on their new VMAX?
Has Anyone Installed Motolights on their new VMAX? 4 years 2 months ago #1

I use these lights on my Rocket III and my VTX1800 and want to get a set to go on my new 2009 VMax they come in a new radial caliper mount and a fender mount in Black Powder Coat or Black Chrome and look really good. Has anyone already ordered a set of these driving lights and if so what type did you order and do you have any pics of the VMax with these lights mounted? There website is http://www.motolight.com
Thanks, Rick |

Will the Vmax alternator support the extra demand of 100w of lights?

I'm sure it will. 100 watts isn't much, but Motolights come standard with a 35 watt bulb.

I've installed two 50w spotties on another bike previously and it fried the alternator. I would like to be sure that the 100w spotties, plus the 65w headlight, the tail lights, the brake lights, the dash lights, the front parker light, the ignition system, all combined won't fry the alternator, or at the very least, prematurely end it's life.
Does anyone know what the maximum output is and what every thing else is sucking out? I would just like to be confident. |

BM is right, they come standard with 35watt halogens. However, I have the 50w optional bulbs in both of my other bikes. I just examined my front fender layout on the new VMax since the Motolights can be mounted on the radial calipers but after looking at ours, the light assembly would need to be installed on the lower bolt mount (making them mount way to low) since the break line is in the way on the upper bolt mount. I would like to use their fender mount setup but it requires that you have a 6mm fender bolt that mounts against something solid on the fender or fork and after looking at our fender mounts they appear to be smaller than 6mm bolts and they don't mount up against anything solid enough to use as the anchor/mount the fairly heavy motolights. So I guess the only thing I can use is their generic bands and fork mount system if I can find a place to even mount that setup. That is why I was hoping someone else has already looked into this or experimented with using this driving lights. By the way, our VMAX system will easily run the additional power draw and still even let you use electric heated Vest/Gloves if you wanted to. Heated vest, etc. not my style but I definitely have enjoyed the motolights on my other bikes and I have put a set on my girls bike as well. Thanks for any help.
