I got one of these when I paid for the bike in January and at the start, I used it a couple of times and it worked as spec'ed but really didn't need it because there was no difference from putting the pump nozzle into the hole of the tank.

But around early March 2009, Chevron Gas Stations in Southern California started changing out all of their pumps and now almost all of the pumps at all Chevron Gas Stations have been changed over.

The problem???

The end of the pump nozzle's O.D. (outside diameter) is about 1-2mm
too wide and depending on the small variance defects in manufacture of that nozzle piece, dictates whether you can get the nozzle into the hole in the 2009 V-Max tank.

By using this filler cap accessory, you can start the fill with the automatic lock "do-hicky" ON and on the very first blow-back, the tank is FULL...I mean 1 to 1-1/2 inches above the hole opening with no spills.

It's a great accessory for...well at least for ME, in Southern California at Chevron Gas Stations. Don't need it at ANY other gas stations that I have filled up at. Don't know about any other States or areas.

Cost???...I paid $18.50 for it at the dealer's...

And where to store it???

It fits perfectly right behind the filler cap, above the rubber over flow tray's rubber piece.

How much more complicated can they make filling your tank up? Is there some Government Office of Difficulty that spends it's time trying to figure out ways to screw up your days?

Not only is this new product being advertized as the solution to your fill up woes....there may be more products on the way to make it even better, of course there will be more additional steps you need to do BEFORE filling up your tank....like standing on your head, recounting all the EPA regulations that address gas...backwards.

I have used this product every way possibe, even having another person with two hands hold it on as tight as possible and it never worked, and I will be asking for a refund on this product.

there has to be something better for us to use.

Does anyone know of a screw off cap for the vmax. I hate having to use my key. Greg put a key back there with a string I guess I will do that if nothing is available soon. Maybe a push button anything but a key.

I know you were joking but you just gave me a great idea which I am going to take action on...

Instead of the Yellow "do-hicky-thingie", I am going to get me a cable end shrink tube and use it instead...

What it is, is that one end has a larger I.D. then the other end...I will just find the correct I.D. for the pump nozzle, which will make the smaller I.D. end fit into the tank hole...

And I know from using them on oil refinery and petrochemical plants, that they are resistant to everything, including gas...

Thanks for the tip bwinston...

I agree with you for the most part, in that, the rubber gas filler adapter does not work on many pump nozzles, even here in Southern California...

It does however work fine on the new Chevron nozzles and pressure fittings...

I only use it at those Chevron stations which is the one that I fill up at near work, every other day...

Other than that, I have to agree, it is a total waste of $18.50...

I guess it all depends on where you use it more than how you use it...

On an episode of Orange County Choppers they built a theme bike for McCuff, the company that makes/designed this. The best part of that episode was when Mikey went to demonstrate the McCuff product at the unveil, attended by a large crowd of people, by filling up the McCuff Chopper only to immediately spill gas on the bike!

They down played it on TV, but sure made a poor impression on me. I could see how it might be helpful at the Chevron stations. Maybe it's time to switch to a different brand.
