Randi,

That shot brings back a lot of memories. That was when the rear wheel was a measly 250 and used a modified stock swingarm and dual yoke drivetrain. The 300 kit went to a gearcase setup and a billet swingarm. Another example of a kit being improved on resulting in delays. The Class Performance exhaust ended up with Terry Davies in Australia of all places, replaced with a Kerker system.

In speaking to Paul I believe the front tire on this bike is really the rear tire that came off of it, so that's what a 200? I was told it was a handful to ride (although Paul did have it on the street numerous times). The rake in the front end and the tire width up front was a bigger limitation than the rear tire. He said he couldn't ride during the day without being pulled over for questions. The bike I believe was a custom build for a bike in Europe. His sidewinder exhaust sounds insane by the way.

gotta say i think Paul did a great job on this 09 in the pics..Not a fan of sidewinder exhaust. but the rest looks real nice. I have a gen 1 with a 330 singlesided rear on it and it rides quite well in the canyons here in colorado, although it is a shoulder workout to say the least. I need to get a wider front tire to help with the rear "push" factor around the corners. My hindle headers get a workout as well. I will probably go to a 200 front from Steve Taylor over in europe. I also have a 2009 with 240 setup. Since I have a "fat tire" bike already i will not go wider on the 09' but I think the look Paul was going for is awsome and if ya have the money to do that to an 09' great. That is why I have one of each. The fat tire bike gets waaayyyy more looks than the new 09' no ifs and or butts about it and I spend way more time on my gen1, after-all i have 19 yrs of ass time on it. good job Paul and keep pushing the envelope.

Mark,

I do remember that bike, one of the nicest used bikes I have ever seen.
It is living the high life with a 250 rear end and custom matching rims
in a town called Lutz, FL. I do have a Gen 2 Vmax but unfortunately my
beloved Chromax is no more. A buddy of mine was taking it to show his
coworkers at a Lexus dealership and was cut off. The frame, exhaust,
rear fender, grab rail, tag assembly was destroyed. There was enough
damage that the bike was totaled. I am toying around with going with a
Fat Max kit on the new bike, I really loved the 300 set-up and visually
I saw the 360 and was impressed, but just not sure of the handling. I
have come to the conclusion that I'd rather work on bikes than ride them,
I have a custom '07 Roadliner with all the parts you could want and it has
a whopping 1,700 miles on it. I actually enjoy my KLR 650 as much as any
bike I have recently owned. I have seen the forward controls from Mad
Max and will likely purchase later this week. Talk about craftmanship!

Scott sory to hear the bad news about the original chromax I had been to Pauls shop when he say fitting you with the 250 than the 300 havent seen Paul in a while since I had a mishap with my rear wheel couple yrs ago and he couldnt get the proper outer rim to fix had to do it myself with a sledge hammer and torches.
I have heard about his forward controls have to call him to catch up and see which part of air he is hanging them from. Have seen his lowering link and massive kick stand I think that thing will hold up a house! later Ty

I do recall that night, the smoky burnouts and everyone passing around illegal
substances while I sat there and drank iced tea. Yup, that's how I remember it.
I do recall that the burgers were outstanding though. Thanks for the kind words
on Chromax, she will arise again, this time in Australia!
