I have been using a Gel seat now for a year on the Gen 2. With some comfort, but not enough for me, I have purchased the Air Hawk Air Cushion to see if it is any better.
So far after 2 separate rides totaling 350 miles, the Air Hawk IMO is not any better than the Gel. They both protect me for about 100 miles and then things start to go south. Fortunately the Air Hawk comes with a 60 day trial period, that if for any reason your not completely satisfied you can return for a full refund including your shipping costs. So no harm no foul. I will try it for about a month, tinkering with the air and such since I have time before I need to return. I'm sure this seat works better with those who are not so heavy. I am 225 lbs. Shouldn't make a difference, but who knows. Will keep anyone who is interested posted. |

Tom,
I've used both a gel seat (Butt Buffer) and the Air Hawk. I will never give up my Air Hawk but have a gel set if anyone's interested. Just kidding as the wife has claimed them. I'm 225-230 lbs and I'm suprised on how little air I have in my Air Hawk. Experiment with your air level and I feel you'll fall in love with it. Art |

I have 60 days to decide if its right for me. Thats a win/win situation. |

Ironic, everyone complained about the Gen I seat and it appears Gen II isn’t much better. I feel like I’m sitting on a 2x8. I was more comfortable on my 85 when the seat was new than the 10 I have now. I’m just over 6’ and weigh 185 and I have a gel on my 10. It sounds like I’ll have to try the Air Hawk Air Cushion; the gel doesn’t quite cut it.

I'm hoping the AirHawk works out on the Gen2...cause I don't know of anything better out there as of yet.
The air pressure is key I think. I don't really mess with mine cause it's basically for the Mrs. on the Gen1. I'll most likely go with the Corbin seat for starters cause it works real good on my Gen1 and has been on there for many years and held up well. Keep us posted! Ken |

Like I said, I'm not sold on it yet. But haven't played with it enough, air and all, to make that final decision. |

It's funny to me that people view seats so differently. I have a Gen1 and a Gen2 Vmax and love the seats on both of them. Maybe I'm just weird though.
Just my opinion. Rob |

I tend to agree with you Mach. I don't remember my Gen1 seat that much because I think I killed those memory cells but I sure don't remember any complaints. And I think I could ride my Gen2 for days. Of course it sure helps to have a stoplight or two every now and then. My butt does get a little sore after an hour or so of riding in one constant position.
But then again, I don't know how much better it could be with one of those things either. |

Any thing you put on the seat will help. Its going to hurt eventually. Without gel or air, I start the "hurting process" pretty early in my ride. With the gel or air I can go about 100 miles before I start feeling some discomfort. I can do 200-250 with the gel or air, but no way with nothing on the seat.

Did another 125 miles today, (fathers day), and started getting sore again at around 100 miles with Air Hawk seat. This is about how long I went with the gel. So if things don't get better, its getting shipped back so I can recoup my 137 bones and I'll go back to the gel.
