TOPIC: oil pan removal - straight off or more involved?
oil pan removal - straight off or more involved? 1 year 5 days ago #1
|
Found a puddle of oil under my bike yesterday! Looks like something substantial must of hit the oil pan and left not quite a hole but rather a deep nick, although it looks actually bent in; enough to let the oil out in any case. Has anyone removed one before? Just had a quick look at the oil pan bolts and all but one look easy enough to get at but for the one right under the kickstand mount (remove kickstand?). Also will the exhaust have to come off? Any suggestions as to a method of repair? (weld, drill/tap w/ bolt, new?($!!)) |

I don't think the exhaust has to come off, but the kickstand does.. Should drop straight down then.

Yeah Mike, you can lift the bike by the pan. It's pretty thick aluminum..

I have lifted off the pan twice with no problem's I put a 1x4 for my jack under the kickstand and pan too ease some pressure off the pan, then I put regular jackstands under the front forks afterword to take all pressure off.
