I thought I read somewhere that even if the oil level drops that doesn't mean the oil is getting up to the top of the motor?

Does anyone disagree with this thought? Is it good enough if the oil level drops in the window?



I have a video of my pump failure the morning before taking my bike to the dealer, you can see the oil dropping in the glass half way and the engine skweeling. If I could just fine the way to post it on you tube from my Gopro.

I hate to say it but I don't think that sight glass test is too accurate. My oil pump recall was obviously done correctly because I have been riding it about 8 months since the recall was done and the engine has not blown. However, after the work was done I did the sight glass test after reading about all of the trouble. I did indeed see the level drop gradually but it was not dramatic. I think the only definitive way to know is with a pressure guage.
