I hate to say it but I don't think that sight glass test is too accurate. My oil pump recall was obviously done correctly because I have been riding it about 8 months since the recall was done and the engine has not blown. However, after the work was done I did the sight glass test after reading about all of the trouble. I did indeed see the level drop gradually but it was not dramatic. I think the only definitive way to know is with a pressure guage.
