TOPIC: Engine Ice Coolant and/or X-1R oil additive

Does anyone know if Engine Ice Coolant or X-1R oil additive are worth getting?
The X-1R apparently lowers engine temp and reduces engine wear (up to 47%) because it impregnates itself into the engines metal and hardens it, makes it smoother therefore less friction of parts. This is what they say. I have heard people swear by it. It does not affect wet clutches either. (so they say) What I need to know is if anyone can confirm this or have had good or bad experience with it as I want to add some to my Gen 1 Vmax. What about Engine Ice coolant? Any info or tips would be awesome. ... Thanks, |

Check out this thread about Redline Water Wetter. This stuff is awesome. I run it in my 94 and love it. I live in the desert (Palm Desert, California) And we see 120 degree and up temps all summer. This stuff has saved my bike Im sure.

What about Engine Ice coolant?
Ice is the best stuff I ever used . A little pricey but well worth the money . I use it in my car also . Haven`t had a need for it in the new max YET . Summer is right around the corner Thank God . I never liked water wetter . It seemed to break down the rubber in the hoses .It`s supost to stay in the corners of the block . We put some in a buddys bike . The next year we drained his system and all this black shit can out . Like broken down rubber . The vmax was only 2 years old JUST MY 2 cents Chuck |

I'm in South Florida, and use a water wetter from Wal-Mart, and noticed a very slight difference. I'll know fer sure this summer, but it did take a little longer for the gauge to climb at a standstill in traffic...(I also changed the water sending unit)
For the X-1R, I was chatting with Dale Walker some time ago and he kinda convinced me to give it a try. No complaints so far, but I also used it for the first time with Rotella oil, so I don't know which one caused the difference. My clutch started slipping slightly at about 8K before the change, now thats gone. The engine now seems to have a loose feeling to it.....revs quicker......been hitting 10 grand a bit too many times the past couple runs.....before I could shift by feel, now I can't, the bikes still pulling at 10K. My 3 cents Chris |

I use engine Ice in my R1 and aprilia and never had any issues. Honestly I am not sure if it works. Straight distilled water is what they use on every track Ive been too.

The reason they use water on the track is that it poses much less of a slippery surface in the event of a spill

I started to use it in my 1500 max . It kept the temps down so I know it does that part of it . My car don`t get hot either and it didn`t freeze this year . It`s not a snake oil .
It works in my book . |

Thanks for all the info guys;
As for water wetter I wont be using that; it is too risky in the climate I am in of freezing. Water wetter from research only benefits in straight water applications. So I won't be using it. Engine Ice sounds like the way to go for me; -or- Then I found a product by EVANS cooling system called NPG+ Its straight non aqueous propylene glycol; no water. I guess it has a boiling point of 375F degrees. Under normal operation conditions of an engine that point is never close to reached therefore the stuff never boils and doesnt foam or bubble and there fore constant liquid; better for removing heat... yadda yadda. Freezing point -40F. Supposed to eliminate hotspots and allow the engine to be more efficient etc. Anyways I just found this last night after making this thread. ANYONE have an experience with this? Thanks... |

Chris (cruizin),
So in your opinion X-1R works? It sounds by your desc. that indeed there is less friction in the engine hence the "loose" feeling? Do you like that the engine has that feel now or do you wish it was like it used to be? What bike is that in; an 09 vmax or gen 1 max or? Thanks |
