Anyone try installing the new K&N air filters for the new Max... Wondering if any performance increases or better throttle response. Gracie. |

If you remove the air box restriction baffle along with adding the filter you will pick up a few HP. And the gas mileage will get MUCH better! Only kidding about the gas mielage. |

Just returned from a business trip to find my new K&N filter has been delivered. I plan to install it over the weekend, along with removing the baffle.
Hated using that term, "business trip". Sounds like I was wearing a suit and going to all-day meetings or something. Naw, I was just away from home workin' for a few weeks. Mike |

The bike sure sounds meaner with the restictor removed. Installed the K&N today. It is a very snug fit in the groove, so make sure you push it down in there so the filter cover goes on correctly.
Today was K&N day at my house. I also installed a filter in my new 5.0 Mustang, along with reprogramming the ECU. Should have picked up about 30 hp on the car. Mike |

Folks with an aftermarket exhaust might feel an improvement, but looks like most folks with exhausts are going with big monster air kits, etc. anyway. If nothing else, the K&N/restrictor removal gave me an excuse to explore the bike's innards..... |

I wouldn't put that junk on my bike. You might as well run no filter. High flowing filters filter dirt for shit. That's why they flow so much air. K&N is junk unless you like dirt in your engine. And I very much doubt your going to gain 30hp for using a K&N filter in your car. It takes a lot more then a filter replacement to gain 30hp. Only other filter I would upgrade from paper is a nanofiber filter. Nanofiber is good stuff. Just my 2cents.

This may sound a bit stupid because it's been discussed many times on this forum, but I'm still confused. My bike is completely stock right now, and I'm only interested in gaining hp and speacialy low end torque. I don't want to go with the Monster Air system, and don't have much money to spend right now, but when possible will get an exaust and a PCV. But at the moment the air box mode is afordable. So what would be the best option? K&N filter, restrictor removal and maybe removing the back cover? Or will any of these options hurt HP or low end torque?
