so i am new to the VMAX. just bought her and love my 85, but it is behavin strange when warm. starts up fine with no problem when cold, then runs great. But when i turn her off, like at a gas station for a fill up, i can not restart the bike until she has cooled off. as you can imagine, this can be more than frustrating. please help with any advice you can think of. thanks. Oh yea, and is there a way to adjust the hydrolic clutch....it is always partially engaged making shifting harder that it should be and making it impossible to get into neutral with the bike running.

Welcome to the site.. If it won't crank very well, it could be a bad ground. Making sure you have all of the air out of the lines will help the clutch.

"i can't restart it"
Does that mean the Starter Motor isn't turning at all, only slowly turning or the Starter turns just fine and the Bike just doesn't fire up ? Regarding the Clutch, B_M is right there is most likely Air in the Clutch Line and this is the Problem. |

Had the same problem with my 2001 VMax. Changed the original battery with a battery which had 2 AMP more. erhaps this could be a sloution to your problem. Grtz |

Tejo is asking the right question, how old is the battery? Staring can cause a drain on the electrical system causing the ignition system issues. A new battery may be needed. If you need a new one, see if you can get a Gel Battery as they have more cranking power too~~~~ Bad and Squeeze have the goods on that one. The clutch system has air or it needs cleaned and the fluid changed. After time the system collects wear particles and when the clutch is not depressed it should release all pressure. There could be dirt in the master cylinder not allowing the pressure to release. Clean the Master cylinder and flush new fluid (I believe it's DOT3/4) through and you should be fine. Good luck and WeLcOMe!!!!! |
