TOPIC: DYNOJET 250ix FOR SALE

DYNOJET 250ix FOR SALE 2 years 2 months ago #1

Question/Help/Sanity Check;

I made a bid on a used Dynojet 250ix today.

Complete set-up, functional, all typcial accessories included, approximately 4 years old, unknown hours ATT

My offer: $7K to $12K depending upon how it checks out.....

the counter offer was double my mid range

that's a bit of a distance between us...

I'm fairly comfortable with my high end (guestimation) but not sure I'd go further.....am I off the mark?

probably gonna pass....but before I go one way or the other....I was hopeful that someone here has some words of wisdom.

Ate up with the Dyno bug?

If you are just looking pull HP numbers, an inertia dyno would be much less. About 7k for a good used one.

If you are looking to tune motorcyles, a load dyno is a must. They are usually around $15k for a used one. There is a motivated 250i seller on RacingJunk.

Of course you could buy one like mine.

Picked my Dyno 200i for 6k used with low hours .. Bad part is Dyno Jets sucks for service and parts IF you got the unit used like i did ..They want 500 bucks up front before they will even talk to you or sell you their over priced replacement parts.. Most of the parts are old GM car suff you can pick up a discount auto parts but they will not tell you that ..If you can't buy it cheap you should pass ..

Thanks Tim, I'll check that out.

My nurse says I need to get a hobbie (to get me through these winters) sounds like a green light to me ;)

for me, I find I must travel alot to Denver or Boulder to get reliable numbers and oh yes, it is extremely addictive....

...... I am confident that this unit, acquired under $15K, would fit the bill (no pun intended).

I'm interested in this as an opportunity IF I can get it at a bargain price..... it's local and very little market for the seller

(though he claims he has an offer and originally paid $38 plus shipping, etc.)

the BUT is the large $ gap between us....so its more of a passing opportunity than a pursuit (this time)

Just not sure if I'm missing the mark due to the dual drum opportunity (in ATV country)......maybe its worth a $2-5K more?

Don't pay ridiculous prices for a Dynojet.. Oliver found a 250 with starter motor and eddy brake, that had never been installed awhile back for $7300. It was in Miami and had to be transported, but that's still a deal. Here's the thread when he finally got it. www.starvmax.com/forum/32-us-west-coast/...cation-in-town#43670

I ran down to inspect it & help load it up, took some pics & it really was a new dyno with just a few scratches from being moved.. Deals are worth waiting for.. You'll come across one.. be patient ;)

Re: DYNOJET 250ix FOR SALE 2 years 2 months ago #8

I would not be so quick to be so blaze' about it Bob. Olivers dyno was a very very rare find. Besides, it was my understanding it was not working and was missing/in parts.I think I remember seeing it on E-Bay ad. Didn't the Eddy brake have to be put into it. That would be a significant omission when discussing a presently working dyno Darrel is looking at that he can see work verses what you mention. Plus it had to be boxed and shipped across the country. I looked for months before I got the Factory Pro and still paid about what Darell is considering. Anything less than $15k would be a decent deal on a known good 250xi with dual drums.

Also, the dyno is just the start. People do not realize the cost of High Flow Fans. I have 2 that cost $900 and 2 that cost $750 EACH that came with mine when I purchased it. Any ancillaries such as the Wideband O2, load cell and the dual or wide drums, it adds up quick. All things to consider while shopping.

Inertia, not a 250ix load dyno. HUGE DIFFERENCE.

Just saying you can find a deal if you're patient (took Oliver awhile). A lot of shops are in financial trouble right now..

I know it's not a 250ix, I just found it listed after he started this thread..
